Quick Tips for Balanced Living

June 2011
Internal Movement - Energy
Greetings!

We typically think of movement in terms of our muscles and bones moving in space.  However, movement is much more encompassing than this.  In fact, every single organ, tissue, and cell in the human body requires movement to live.  Lack of movement leads to a stagnant system, and in worst case, to death.

With this in mind, this month's quick tip addresses internal movement or energy usage.  Please read the brief article below and enjoy the two recipes giving you simple, yet efficient ways to provide yourself with healthy energy that is easily digested.

AIM Sports Medicine is proud to be offering weekly Wellness Yoga classes.  In next month's MCM we will share a quick video with more detailed information regarding Wellness Yoga.  Remember that you can always access MCM past and present on the Movement Conditioning page of our website.

Stay Well,

Lenny and Brandi

Energy and DIGESTION...
How is your system moving?

Optimal energy intake allows us to be even more efficient with movement.  As gravity acts on the body and draws us downward, if we lack good energy due to lack of vital nutrients, our exercise programs, and life in general becomes much more difficult.  In fact, this circumstance can put us into a mode of cellular protection as opposed to growth.  Simply, we like to call it surviving vs. thriving.  Often times we can get fat because the body is in survival mode and will conserve energy as a means to survive.  In this case, much of the exercise that we are doing can be a detriment as opposed to a benefit because it is simply too much stress for an already energy inefficient and vital nutrient deprived body.  Emotionally, this can become a downward and sometimes depressing cycle when we realize that all the exercise in the world doesn't seem to make much of a difference anymore.

The good news is... there is a solution.  The goal is to replace artificial foods with natural, organic, and authentic foods.  This will immediately improve your function/movement from the inside out.  One of the ways we can do this with our busy lifestyles is to have a meal that is quick and simple to make that you can take on the run.  We eat this way once or twice a day most days of the week and want to share two recipes that work for us.  One is the Ultimate Wellness Fruit Shake and the other is Ultimate Wellness Veggie Shake.  We know that organic fruit, vegetables, high quality protein, and healthy fat is critical for optimal energy and overall health.  These recipes give you what your body needs and they taste good too.  You can modify the recipes for your individuality, as everyone is unique.  Please give them a try and email us with any questions or comments.  Improving energy starts with three simple steps...

1) Choose fresh foods over processed.
2) Eat certified organic food.
3) Shop at your local farmer's market.
