Quick Tips for Balanced Living

May 2011
The Balancing Act
Greetings!

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is to live a life of balance... balance of mind, body, and spirit.  This month's video clip shares how you can challenge and enhance your physical body balance which will in turn improve your ability to better handle the unexpected tasks of daily living.

We are excited to be introducing our MCM archives on the Movement Conditioning page of our website.  If you have missed previous MCMs or simply want to remind yourself of healthful movements, please access the information this way as often as you would like.

Stay Well,

Life is a BALANCING act...

Balance is your ability to keep your center of mass over your base of support.  This brief video demonstrates a series of arm and leg movements that you can integrate into one of the most fundamental movements that we already perform...walking.

Three interesting facts about balance:

1) Fear of falling is the number one health concern of individuals in their later years.
2) Balance is NOT a state of stillness or rigidity, but rather a state of equilibrium where there is a harmony between all the parts or our whole being.
3) The feeling of greater balance is increasingly effortless, not harder work.  Balance tasks that may have once been a conscious effort can become a subconscious reaction that is more effective and efficient in real life activity.

OUR MISSION:

To provide each individual with a principle based process to optimize function.
