Averaging 250 attendees each week (with a high of 370 during appearances by Jeff Dearborn), each concert had its own character and flavor. There was the nostalgia of the 40's swing era from East Bay Jazz, the presence of a WMUR TV -9 film crew . . . MORE |

From the Henniker Community School
The new school year began at the Henniker Community School on Wednesday, August 29 and a full range activities are already underway. Parents and students take note: School Picture Day is set for Wednesday, September 19. On the evening of September 19th, parents and friends will want to join us for the Annual Open House from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. It is the perfect time to see your student's classroom and meet all the teachers. There's no need to worry about dinner before the Open House as you can join the Henniker PTA for their Pizza Social from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the Café. The cost is $3.00 per person for pizza, salad, and drink; $2.00 for pizza OR salad and drink; and there's a family cap of $20.00.
Other events this month at HCS include the Scholastic Book Fair from September 17-19,
9 am until 2 pm daily in the Café. The Book Fair will also be open during the Open House from 5 to 8 pm. The Scholastic Book Fair is sponsored by the Henniker PTA and is one of their major fundraisers. Support your school and enjoy a new book!
New staff members to join HCS this year include Peter Adamo from Henniker as the 7/8th grade math and technology education teacher and Todd Storro of New Boston as the K-8th grade art teacher. Sharing a position with John Stark is this year's Chinese Exchange Teacher Xu Ke, who hails from Luoyang, in the Henan Province. Special Education teacher Samantha Saunders of Hillsborough has also joined HCS. New para-educators from Henniker include Joann Keirstead and Louisa Meehan. Para-educator Nathan Desrochers lives in Concord. Two additional Henniker residents have joined the Henniker Community School; Nicole Patterson is the new school nurse and Jennifer Astholz is the attendance secretary and para-educator.
Two final reminders, there is no school for students on Friday, September 21 as it is a teacher workshop day, and the Henniker School Board meets on the first Wednesday of every month. The next Henniker School Board meeting will be Wednesday, October 3 at 6:15 pm in the school library.
