Historic District Asks for Support on Warrant Article 4
Henniker voters have an excellent opportunity to preserve and protect three historic, town-owned buildings on voting day, Tuesday, March 13.
The buildings are well known to town residents. They include the Grange Hall (next door to the Tucker Free Library), Academy Hall (used by the Henniker Historical Society Museum on Maple Street) and the Henniker Community Center and Community Park.
The buildings are fine examples of 19th century architecture and deserve lasting protection from undue alteration or demolition. The Grange Hall was built as a Universalist Church in 1882. Academy Hall was built as the Henniker Academy in 1836. And the Henniker Community Center was built as a Baptist Church in 1834.
Henniker's Historic District Commission has identified the buildings as historic and recommends incorporating them into the Historic District. Their inclusion in the Historic District will allow the commission to review and approve any proposed alteration to these buildings. The commissioners, comprised of town residents, are volunteers committed to historic preservation and restoration.
The commission worked with the Planning Board to present an Amendment to the Zoning Regulations for ballot vote. It asks whether to include these important buildings within the Historic District.

We ask for your support on Article 4.

Important Safety Reminders from PSNH
- SAGGING OR FALLEN LINES: Customers are urged to stay clear of fallen or sagging power lines and to treat all lines as if they are 'live.' They should also stay away from downed trees or poles, and report this situation immediately to PSNH at 1-800-662-7764.
- INSTALLING GENERATORS: In addition, PSNH reminds customers that it is critical for their safety and the safety of line workers who will repair the electrical system that portable generators be installed correctly. To protect line workers, a generator should only be attached to the house wiring and completely isolated from the utility supply. Without proper isolation, power that is being generated through the home could also feed into the PSNH electrical system and possibly electrocute a neighbor or a utility worker. Please take care when installing a portable generator. For more generator safety tips, visit www.psnh.com
