Congregation Discussion on 2012 Budget
Following worship on Sunday, January 8th, the Vestry will host a discussion about the results of the 2012 Budget. In 2012 we will not be able to fund every ministry initiative and want to share the discernment of the congregation on our choices. Please plan on joining us. This is an important conversation and we encourage you to be present.

2012 Missional Budget Presentation
St. Matthias' 2012 vision-focused budget is online on our Website on the Vestry page, along with the slides from the Missional Budget Presentation from December 11th by Ron Lord, Rich Strom, and Fr. Scott. If you were not present, I encourage you to take a few minutes and read the Narrative and/or read the Presenter Notes that go along with the slides.
Please also let us, your Vestry, hear your feedback. We believe God is leading us and want to check out that direction and focus with you, His people. You can email Ron Lord at intelliron@comcast.net or Fr. Scott at padrescott@gmail.com and we'll pass it on to the whole Vestry. We are meeting both this Thursday night at 6pm and on Sunday following worship. As always, Vestry meetings are open to the congregation.

Pledges 2012
Thank you to those who have pledged for 2012
Thank you for your generous pledge for the mission of God and the vision of our church. We are very excited to be moving forward with more clarity and energy. Thank your Vestry for their service, as well.
2012 Pledges
We have asked for all pledges for 2012 to be in the office already. We know that not everyone has been able to do that. You can submit a confidential pledge through stmatthias@comcast.net. Please place "Pledge" in the subject line. You can, of course, complete a pledge card from the mailing two weeks ago or get a card just outside the office door on the shelves. The Vestry would greatly appreciate hearing from you by Wednesday so that we can have accurate numbers for 2012 planning.

Vestry Election, Vestry Clerk, and Annual Meeting
In the Episcopal Church, congregational leadership is shared between lay and clergy through ministry leadership and the Vestry. For Vestry, we are looking for the gifts of leadership, encouragement, and discernment and a willingness to serve the people of St. Matthias during this exciting time. The Vestry serves in partnership with the rector in the mission and management of St. Matthias. We've got a healthy group. This year we will elect two to serve for three year terms. More information on responsibilities, meeting time, and qualification are on the vestry page of our website at saint-matthias.org. If you are interested in serving, please be in touch with Ron Lord, our Senior Warden, Fr. Scott, Jeff McCamley, or Jeff Smith.
The St. Mathias 2012 Annual Meeting will be Sunday, January 22nd at and following worship. We'll share a meal together, give thanks for good things that happened in 2011 and are happening in 2012, and join together in choosing the specific goals in our vision for 2012. This is both an official business meeting, but also a "family" meeting of the family of St. Matthias. Please plan on joining in. Details to follow.

Clerk of the Vestry
St. Matthias is looking for a Clerk to serve during 2012. The Clerk is responsible for preparing the Vestry packets, preparing minutes at Vestry meetings, and maintaining the Vestry Binder (official record of Vestry business). Skills include working knowledge of email and PDF documents; a laptop is helpful. Please see Fr. Scott and/or current Clerk, Gael Phaneuf if you are interested in serving. We are most grateful to have a Clerk! |

Eucharistic Visitors and EV Training
Would you like to visit those unable to be with us on Sunday mornings in care and to bring them Holy Communion? This is the wonderful ministry of Lay Eucharistic Visitors. Eucharistic Visitors share communion with those unable to attend church on a Sunday or other holy day. Eucharistic Visitors (EVs) are sent by the congregation with bread and wine consecrated at the service. EVs provide a pleasant visit for the homebound, hospitalized, or (if appropriate) ill person. The Eucharistic Visitor might be one of the few outside people a homebound person sees. A mutual relationship develops. This service does not replace periodic clergy visits, but augments them. Training for this ministry will occur Saturday, January 14th from 9am - 12:30pm. Please consider training for this ministry and joining our EV team. RSVP for the training to Fr. Scott (padrescott@gmail.com) and/or Gael Phaneuf (dogsforwarmfeet@aol.com).
