Vestry Election, Vestry Clerk, and Annual Meeting

In the Episcopal Church, congregational leadership is shared between lay and clergy through ministry leadership and the Vestry. For Vestry, we are looking for the gifts of leadership, encouragement, and discernment and a willingness to serve the people of St. Matthias during this exciting time. The Vestry serves in partnership with the rector in the mission and management of St. Matthias. We've got a healthy group. This year we will elect two to serve for three year terms. More information on responsibilities, meeting time, and qualification are on the vestry page of our website at saint-matthias.org. If you are interested in serving, please be in touch with Ron Lord, our Senior Warden, Fr. Scott, Jeff McCamley, or Jeff Smith.

Clerk of the Vestry

St. Matthias is looking for a Clerk to serve during 2012. The Clerk is responsible for preparing the Vestry packets, preparing minutes at Vestry meetings, and maintaining the Vestry Binder (official record of Vestry business). Skills include working knowledge of email and PDF documents; a laptop is helpful. Please see Fr. Scott and/or current Clerk, Gael Phaneuf if you are interested in serving. We are most grateful to have a Clerk!

Eucharistic Visitors and EV Training

Would you like to visit those unable to be with us on Sunday mornings in care and to bring them Holy Communion? This is the wonderful ministry of Lay Eucharistic Visitors. Eucharistic Visitors share communion with those unable to attend church on a Sunday or other holy day. Eucharistic Visitors (EVs) are sent by the congregation with bread and wine consecrated at the service. EVs provide a pleasant visit for the homebound, hospitalized, or (if appropriate) ill person. The Eucharistic Visitor might be one of the few outside people a homebound person sees. A mutual relationship develops. This service does not replace periodic clergy visits, but augments them. Training for this ministry will occur Saturday, January 14th from 9am - 12:30pm. Please consider training for this ministry and joining our EV team. RSVP for the training to Fr. Scott (padrescott@gmail.com) and/or Gael Phaneuf (dogsforwarmfeet@aol.com).

Thank you each for being a part of the St. Matthias family or extended family. The Lord bless and keep you!
