Christmas Giving Tree
Join in helping children in our area whose parents cannot afford Christmas gifts have a joyful Christmas by providing a gift from the Christmas Giving Tree. Simply take an ornament and purchase the asked for gift (each has a general desire from a specific Tri-Lakes area child). Then return the unwrapped gift to St. Matthias no later than December 11. This is a ministry St. Matthias has participated in for many years that helps Tri-Lakes Cares provide for families in need. For more information see Laura Barkocy (481-1335) or lbarkocy@hotmail.com. You may also visit the Tri-Lakes Cares web site: www.tri-lakescares.org.

Advent Devotions
This year's Advent Devotions that weren't picked up on Sunday were mailed this week. Look for them in your mailbox. There are devotions for families with children, for youth, and for adults. This year you can also order your own Kindle or Nook edition for just 99 cents; the title is Living The Gospel Life: The Season of Advent - Daily Devotions for Christians On A Mission. Please note the stickers for the stand up stable for the younger children did not arrive with the other material. It will be sent to you as soon as possible.

Thanks to:
- The people of St. Matthias for your prayers and care during my back problems, surgery, and now in recovery. I'm doing pretty well with still limited sitting and no "BLT". I'm grateful for you!
- Ron Lord and Mike Hess for being our main contact during my (Fr. Scott) recovery for surgery
- Micky Miller for her extra work during these past two weeks when I have been absent from the office, and for her continued flexibility.

The Lord's Dinner--Sunday, December 4
Here is your opportunity to participate in a very rewarding ministry project. We will prepare and serve dinner to about 100 homeless and less fortunate people at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave. in Old Colorado City on Sunday, December 4th. If you would like to donate food for the dinner, a sign-up sheet is posted on the kiosk at the back of the church. Please bring all food to the church the morning of December 4th or call me. If you wish to assist in the service of the meal and/or setup, we would love to have you join us. It's a fun and very rewarding evening. We begin setting up at about 5:00 and serve the meal at 6:00. DONATIONS OF TRAVEL SIZE TOILETRIES, TOOTHBRUSHES, DISPOSABLE RAZORS, SOCKS AND GLOVES, NEW OR USED CANDLES AND BLANKETS can be left in the basket at the back of the pews through December 4th. Our guests feel truly blessed that we come all the way from Monument and go to so much work for them. They appreciate the meal, our prayers, and our fellowship. We always leave feeling that they have given us more than we have given them. Contact Kathy Strom (481-0943) for more information.
