St. Matthias Core Values
| | |
The people and clergy of St. Matthias value community among those who consider this church their home, our relationship in the Anglican Church, and Biblical Faith.
We value:
Christian Community: We seek to nurture and maintain a true sense of belonging and community among those who worship and learn together as St. Matthias.
Our Anglican Heritage: St. Matthias is a part of the Episcopal Church in the United States and the worldwide Anglican Communion. We value this heritage, its forms of worship, and its polity.
Biblical Faith: St. Matthias holds the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the word of God and seeks to live the relationship with God and others as the Bible describes.

"Cathedral Ridge is the new Diocesan
Camp located in the front range mountains near Woodland Park. They are
looking for volunteers this summer to spruce up the 156 acres and several
buildings (dining hall, hotel style rooms, etc). Volunteers can go up at
any time to work individually or St Matthias could organize a group. We
need to notify the camp ahead of time so they can prepare meals ($10 per
person) and /or overnight stay ($35 /night w/o linens, $40 /night with
linens). They are planning a young adult work weekend Jul 30 - Aug 1 (defined
as 18 to 35 years old), a general work day on Aug 7, and a work weekend on Aug
20 - 22. Mike Hess is coordinating the volunteers from St Matthias.
If you would like to participate in any of the above or any other date, please
contact Mike at 488-2631."

The Lord's Dinner-Sunday August 1st Here is your
opportunity to participate in a very rewarding ministry project. St. Matthias will prepare and serve dinner to
about 100 homeless and less fortunate people at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Parish Hall, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave. in Old Colorado City on Sunday, August 1st. We're going to serve sloppyjoe sandwiches,
macaroni salad, green beans, and cake.
A Sign-up sheet is posted on the kiosk at the back of the church to donate food for the dinner. Please bring all food to the church the
morning of August 1st or call me. If you
wish to assist in the service of the meal and/or setup, we would love to have
you join us. It's a fun and very rewarding evening. We begin setting up at about 5:00 and serve
the meal at 6:00. Donations of travel
size toiletries, toothbrushes, disposable razors, socks and gloves, new or used
candles and blankets can be left in the basket at the back of the pews through
August 1st. Our guests feel
truly blessed that we come all the way from Monument and go to so much work for
them. They appreciate the meal, our
prayers, and our fellowship. We always
leave feeling that they have given us more than we have given them. Contact Kathy Strom (481-0943) for more
information.

Calling St. Matthias to a Ministry of Care Cards for Gail Davis Please write an encouraging note, make a card, or use one of the many "thinking of you" cards available in our local stores for our former organist Gail Davis. Bring your card to church on Sunday to add to the Card Basket being prepared. Gail is bedridden, and now resides in a nursing facility where every diversion and good wish means a thousandfold to her. Let us bless her with the love of Christ and the written assurance that we have not forgotten her. The basket with your good wishes will be hand delivered to Gail. For more information please contact Gael Phaneuf at gaelphan@yahoo.com.
Gail's son Ken also invites you to visit Gail between 10am and 4pm, daily, without appointment at:
