"Yes, Lord, I am here, ready to listen and do your will!"

I can just imagine the joy God would feel if we got up every morning and uttered these words. This is my ultimate goal but sometimes instead of trusting and obeying God's will, I find myself trying to plan MY work and work MY own plan. Then when I can't get my pieces tied together, I hear (by chance, of course) the radio interview that reminds me "unless it's God's will and God's time, it won't happen." Then God speaks to me from a billboard just in case I missed the interview--"Don't make me have to come down there," and simply signs it "God."

And, when all else fails to nudge be closer to the WILL, the music never does--no matter what kind of station I'm listening to. If it's gospel, I'll hear "He wants it all," "Order my steps," or "Only what you do for Christ will last." Even in that dranking**and cheating country music I love so, God gently reminds me to be thankful for memories, opportunities, family, friends, a place called heaven-the things that really matter! The lyrics usually take me to Jeremiah 29:11, "...For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, to give you a future with hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me if you seek me with your whole heart."

Today, no matter where you are or where you're trying to go, this promise is for you too. Celebrate because you've been given the right (yes, the right-remember Easter?) to live triumphantly and soar with the eagles! Trust God's will and plan(s) for your life-you can bet it's a good one!

** (You're probably thinking this is a typo and there's no such thing as dranking, but trust me if you're listening to country music, it's next up from regular ol' drinking!)

Things to Do

I've learned that making a list helps me get things done. Use mine and add your own...

Figure out an exercise routine you can live with and stick to it religiously. Consistency is the key--oh, and that Y and Curves membership that you keep meaning to cancel because you never go, redirect that money to a savings account or buy yourself something special.

Take a mental health day and treat yourself to a nap, a nice lunch and a movie, or spend the day in your pajamas, catching up on your magazines and watching Andy Griffith reruns. Conveniently forget to charge your phone.

 *  Make that phone call, write that note, and make it right- whatever IT is (clarification, forgiveness, etc.) that you know you need, must do or should've done, so if you died today, you'd have no regrets.

More Things To Do...

*  Become a mentor. Many single parents just need a hand and a nap or a moment to themselves. Take little one on a date and give Mom or Dad a treat.

*  Be in prayer (and lend a hand or donation where possible) for victims of weather-related and other disasters (tsunamis, earthquakes, flooding, forest fires, tornadoes, drought) since unfortunately they've become as much a part of summer as mosquitoes, picnics, homegrown tomatoes and bikinis.

One person with a dream and determination can change the world.

"If you're going to run with the big dogs, you've got to have good flea powder." ~Cynthia A. Bond Hopson

Sometimes simply asking the right question is enough to change the whole dynamic.

Power is like money in the bank, the less you use, the more you have.

"Know who you are when nobody's looking." ~Anonymous

Everything that counts can't be counted and everything's that's countable doesn't count.

"Know how to live within yourself. There is in your soul a whole world of mysterious and enchanted thoughts." ~Fyodor Tyutchev

"I've had choices, since the day that I was born; there were voices that told me right from wrong. If I had listened, I wouldn't be here today, living and dying with the choices I made." ~Billy Yates & Mike Curtis

"It's not your conditions but your decisions that will determine your destiny." ~Earl Nightingale

"It's not what you say but what you do all day that counts."

~CAB Hopson

Live your big dreams-- only you have the power to make them come true!
