President's Message

Do not expect something for nothing. Be willing to give an equivalent value for all that you desire, and include in your plans a definite provision for doing so. -Napoleon Hill

As members of the FPA, we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. Many began careers in the financial services industry out of the pure need for a job; others entered because of the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Regardless, most of us began growing our businesses and careers one day at a time. While we evolved, so did the industry and the Financial Planning Association. Steven Covey suggests we should "begin with the end in mind." Our decision to be members of the Financial Planning Association should be accompanied with a desired outcome.

I encourage you to consider "giving an equivalent value" to achieve your desired outcome as a member of the FPA by attending the upcoming Listening Tour on July 26, 2010. There is absolutely no cost to you to attend. Come prepared to share your comments, praise and concerns about the FPA and the benefits you wish to achieve through your membership. This is your opportunity to shape the future direction of the FPA.

Our local chapter is vibrant and offers a common ground for a highly diversified group of individual practitioners. It is exciting for me to be part of the leadership team and to visit with so many of you at the various events. Nothing would make me happier than to see a packed room when our national leaders come to Pittsburgh to "listen" to our voices. I look forward to your support for this event.

Sincerely,

Darla
