President's Message
Greetings,
The most recent CFP Board's public opinion survey highlights the need for sound financial advice now more than ever.  We are in the right profession at the right time.  Clients are more concerned about their finances today than they were before the financial crisis began two years ago.  The survey found the following about Americans' attitudes toward financial planners:
More than 43% of Americans think financial planners are now "more important in the last two years since the start of the financial crisis."
Overall use of financial planners by Americans has remained almost unchanged during the first two years of the U.S. financial crisis - starting at 29% compared to 28% today.
Of those who have started using a financial planner since the start of the financial crisis, nearly 31% say they have done so because "I felt like I needed more financial guidance during these difficult times for investors."  44% of this group said they have started using a financial planner during the last two years for reasons "unrelated to the financial crisis."
If you would like to read the full survey click here.
It's also incumbent upon us as professionals to stay ahead of the curve.  Why not join us at the Estate Planning Conference scheduled for September 16th to find out what's about to happen in this arena?  The keynote speaker is an experienced estate planning attorney, J Mark Munson, Senior Counsel with Thorp Reed. Look for your invitation to be mailed soon.
Best Regards,
Registration Open for Financial Four'um

Volunteer with Junior Achievement
Want to make a difference in the financial and business education of local children?  Consider becoming a volunteer with Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania.  For more information on JA and how FPA members can get involved, contact Mark Ambrose.
FPA members, including David Jeter, CFP of Allegheny Financial Group, are already experiencing the rewards of volunteering:
In the 4 years of participating in JA programs I have learned one very big lesson -  I gain as much from the experience as the children.  The interaction with bright, hopeful, energetic students is something I look forward to each time, and it helps me be a better professional.  - David Jeter
