Welcome to you Sophomore Year!
This is the first edition of Year 2 @ Tech, the monthly Sophomore Newsletter for second-year students. This newsletter is designed to provide you with timely information that relates specifically to the issues that sophomores may encounter.
This newsletter is part of a larger approach to provide a more comprehensive set of programs for sophomore students. Sophomore Programs aims to coordinate programs and services to help second-year students succeed academically, make major and career decisions, connect to to on-campus resources, facilitate involvement and leadership opportunities, and create a sense of sophomore class unity.
It is my hope you find Year 2 @ Tech helpful and timely. This issue covers programs for sophomores to get the year started. From the Sophomore Career Experience, to the Sophomore Trip, and 2nd Annual GT 2.0: Sophomore Programs Week, there is a lot to look forward to during your second year at Tech.
I am always willing to meet with any sophomore who has ideas for programs or services to support sophomores, or if you have concerns as you begin your Fall semester. You can stop by my office located in the Office of New Student & Sophomore Programs on the 3rd floor of the ISyE Annex Building, room 346A or send me an e-mail at eric.tack@vpss.gatech.edu. Sophomore Summit Fall 2011
|
Sophomore Summit has a rich history of improving the sophomore-experience at Tech. Summit was a student driven initiative that has taken many forms over the last several years and is now housed in the Office of New Student & Sophomore Programs. However, the tradition of it being planned for sophomores by successful sophomores continues.
Summit is a retreat designed to provide students a time for peer-to-peer networking, assist them in creating a sense of purpose in college and life, develop goals for the duration of their time at Tech, and provide an opportunity for student and faculty/staff interaction.
This year summit is scheduled to take place October 21 - October 22. Applications will be available on-line at www.sophomores.gatech.edu in early September.
