Natural Mosquito Repellent

This video shows the making of a repellent that is very similar to one that I make & use. Although, I like adding a few drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil instead of geranium to my mix.
Another suggestion is that instead of plain water, add your catnip tea and watch those insects run & hide.

Enjoy the satisfaction you will get from creating a natural and easy alternative to dealing with bugs. It beats basting in DEET.

To Your Health!

???DID YOU KNOW???
That earth friendly consumers have caught the attention of large chemical companies such as DuPont, who are now "seeing green" in the way of creating natural plant based bug repellents. Their green repellents reportedly use Nepetalactone as a base. Nepetalactone is found in both Catnip and Catmint.

Try growing and boiling your own Catnip/mint tea, then spritzing it on yourself (when cooled) for a low cost bug spray. The compound Nepetalactone, has been found to be as effective a repellent as the very toxic DEET.

Be mindful that while strange cats probably won't flock to you, your own cat may become unhealthily and annoyingly obsessed. So, if you own a cat, try cinnamon or cinnamon leaf oil as an effective bug repelling alternative.

Enjoy a happy & pest free summer!

Sincerely,

CAUTIONARY NOTES:
Natural repellents may need to be re-applied more often then their chemical counterparts.

Always take the precaution of testing new products, natural or chemical, on a small patch of skin. This will ensure you can more easily contain any negative reaction from the product itself or the product used in conjunction with your sunscreen or other body products.

Do not apply any bug repelling product to the skin of a child under the age of 2 without consulting your doctor or Naturopath first.
