CPR & Tube Feeding Brochures Now Available in Four More Languages

CCCC's popular CPR & Tube Feeding brochures are now available in Korean, Russian, Tagalog and Vietnamese. Download them free-of-charge on CCCC's web site.  The brochures are also available in Chinese and Spanish. The new translations were made possible by a grant from Kaiser Permanente Southern California.

 

Building Bridges: End-of-Life Care through a Cultural Lens

CCCC's Building Bridges pre-conference workshop on March 15 sold out. We'd like to apologize to those who were unable to register. More Building Bridges workshops will be scheduled during the coming year - in both northern and southern California. Stay tuned for more information.

 

Revised POLST Form to Go into Effect April 1

Proposed changes to the California POLST Form have been approved by the statewide POLST Task Force and the Emergency Medical Services Authority Commission. The new form will go into effect on April 1, 2011. Previous versions of signed POLST forms remain valid. Click here to preview a copy of the revised form.

ASCO Recommends Steps to Improve End-of-Life Care

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) issued a policy statement recommending steps to ensure that physicians initiate candid discussions about the full range of palliative care and treatment options soon after a patients' diagnosis with advanced cancer.

 

ASCO also has a free booklet for patients with advanced cancer to help guide them through difficult patient-doctor discussions.

 

National Palliative Care Registry Is Open

The Center to Advance Palliative Care's Registry is the only repository of operational data on palliative care programs in U.S. hospitals. Enter your 2010 data into the Registry now!

 

Call for Papers: Spirituality and End-of-Life Care

The Journal of Social Work in End-of-Life and Palliative Care will devote a future issue to the topic of spirituality in end-of-life and palliative care. Submission of manuscripts that address a broad range of related topics are encouraged. Deadline is June 30, 2011. For more information, contact Ellen Csikai, editor at ecsikai@sw.ua.edu.

International Palliative Care Leadership Development Initiative Accepting Applications

International Palliative Care Leadership Development Initiative is designed for palliative care physicians who wish to develop critical leadership knowledge, skills and behaviors that will help them advance palliative care capacity locally, nationally and internationally. Applications are due April 30, 2011.

 

Spirituality and End-of-Life Care

A one-day seminar where speakers will discuss the differences and relationship between spirituality and religion, while also addressing spirituality during illness, death and grief; spiritual assessment and empowerment and life review.
