Three of these teachers will be selected by WACLV to go on a two week all expense paid trip to Turkey this July.

We have  two more events scheduled for April - a free evening reception at the Four Seasons co-hosted with the USGLC (www.usglc.org) on April 20th followed by a  luncheon with Dr Blechman, a nuclear expert on Iran on April 21st.

"Spotlight on Turkey" - Teacher Event

This program exceeded everyone's expectations!  On April 2nd WACLV together with representatives from the Las Vegas Turkish Community held a continuing education cultural program for 25 teachers. The sessions were taught by four PhD's and the Turkish community.

This three phased program is funded by a grant from the Turkish Cultural Foundation,  Following the teacher's trips to Turkey this summer, a program for WACLV
members will be held in the fall.

Many thanks to: Dr Gunay Oskan and CSN for hosting and providing PDE teachers;  Mercedes Krause our WACLV Spotlight/schools committee chair;  Dr. Meral Keskintempe, lead for the local Turkish community volunteers who prepared all the fabulous homemade Turkish recipes; and Bonnie Joy Kaslan, consultant for the Turkish Cultural Foundation.

This program received rave reviews by the participants and sponsor.  We hope to host future teacher continuing education programs on international issues and we hope to produce this event again next year. Please contact us if you would like to be involved.
