President's Message
WarmanHeadShot

Dear Members,

Fall is upon us, and I am beginning to feel like one of those squirrels racing around the yard for the last few acorns...  Is anyone else feeling like this??  If you're not, we certainly have a full month of Junior League activities to help keep you busy!

This week, the Provisional Class (over 40 members) participated in their "boot camp training"--Junior League 101, where they started learning all about the Junior League.  They also enjoyed a weekend bus tour of our past proceeds recipients.  The Member Liaisons hosted a fun-filled movie night this week, as well.  All members are welcome to attend movie nights and should feel free to bring a friend.  Next week we look forward to a road trip to Hamilton to visit their Junior League's Holiday Tour of Homes.  Come join us for the day.  The more the merrier!

Last week, we proudly announced our 2011 Decorators' Show House Proceeds figure of $219,000.  The work of the Proceeds Committee now begins under the leadership of Kristy Gossel and Cindy Vance, with a Proceeds vote planned in March.  The timing of the Proceeds announcement is directly tied to the completion of our audit.  This year's audit report was incredibly positive and hugely improved over prior reports.  Many thanks to Angela Hall, Financial Vice President, and Barb Smith, Treasurer, for working so diligently to uphold our financial integrity.

Our Community Council has been so very busy this fall; it's impossible to mention all of their activities here!  For one, the LifeCoach program continues next Saturday with our talented members facilitating the Bedtime Reading session.  The pajamas and books collected at our last General Membership Meeting will be handed out to the mom participants.  If you have free time next Saturday morning, stop by the community center and be a part of the session.  Again, the more the merrier!

The next General Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15 at 6:45 PM at the Darwin Martin House.  You can hear much more about the activities of the Community Council, as well as about our other councils. We will also host several engaging speakers, as our focus is to continually train our members on a wide range of topics impacting our community.  The meeting is sure to be a highlight of the year.

Invitations to our Holiday Party on December 13 at the Pearl Street Grill should be coming soon.  The party will feature the ever-popular basket raffle to benefit the 1919 Fund, as well as the Buffalo Dining Cards, which are being sold to generate seed money for our Casino Night.  Once again, the more the merrier!

Finally, it's that time of year when everyone is incredibly busy, scurrying around, and Junior League is no different.  My wish for you is to enjoy the warmth of the holiday time with family and friends, celebrate our many gifts, and create beautiful memories.

Hope to see you on November 15.

Julie

Sustainer Dine Around is Back!

IT'S BACK...  The ever popular Sustainer Dine Around!  Once again the Dine Around is spearheaded by that dynamic trio who brought Sustainers countless Dine Arounds in the past:  Mary Lou Mancuso, Jayne Carter Farkas, and Maria Mozzetti-Stock.

The first Dine Around of the year was held at Daniel's in Hamburg on October 5. Upcoming is Lombardo's on Hertel Avenue on November 9.  The evenings are great fun and a terrific way to catch up with those who you may not have seen in a while.  You may even meet a Sustainer whom you previously didn't know.  Be certain to watch the Weekly Emails for future Dine Around dates.  Then mark your calendar and come join the party!
