...........................................
As you are aware, I have been following the lawsuit that AtPac filed against Nevada County and Gregory Diaz.. I am concerned over the fact that our Board of Supervisors has authorized over $350,000 so far to pay for their defense. That's our money, yours and mine. More and more documents are being released that appear to undermine the County's defense.
Rumors on the street are that the County may be willing to negotiate a settlement. I have to stress that this is not facts, just rumors.
The bottom line is that the Supervisors appear to have been asleep on the job. They have known for a long time that there were serious problems in the Clerk/Recorders office yet have chosen to ignore them. They were elected to watch over things for us but, in my opinion, have not done so.
All their meetings have been conducted in secret so we have no way of knowing what is going on. We know that the Supervisors are very upset that the media released some of the transcripts, which are available online, and that they have exerted some pressure on the media.
We need to exert additional pressure on the media to keep us informed of what else is happening in this case that they may know about. Call KNCO at 272-3424 or write a letter to the editor at The Union and ask them to continue their investigation.
The Tea Party Patriots' mission statement is very clear about our role in making sure that our government at all levels is fiscally responsible. Your role is to keep the pressure on the media and the Board of Supervisors.
Together we can get answers that we expect from our elected officials.
............................................
Last Wednesday we had our first NCTPP evening meeting and had about 325 of you in attendance. It was a lively and excited crowd. Refreshments were provided by our members and there was plenty to eat for everyone.
There was excitement in the air as we had Congressman Tom McClintock and Mark Meckler coming on stage. As you know, Mark is the co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots and National Co-coordinator
Mark was introduced to a standing ovation and certainly did not let us down with his view of what's going on nationally with our organization and the politics of Washington, DC. Then, Tom McClintock took center stage, received a standing ovation and spoke about how much we have influenced politics and how he plans to vote on up-coming issues.
Mark & Tom then took the stage together for an hour of questions and answers. The audience asked some excellent questions and was provided with some great answers. These two speakers understand what is going on in Washington, DC and around the country and provided their insight to us. In particular, Mark focused on the 2012 elections and how we must increase the pressure on our representatives. He also reminded us that we also must let these people know when they are doing the right thing.
Both Tom and Mark strongly believe that the conservatives can take back the Senate, the House and the White House if we all keep doing what we are doing. This is not the time to coast along but the time to redouble our efforts.
As the event ended, the audience gave both our speakers another standing ovation and the kept them busy asking them questions for another 45 minutes.
The McClintock people told me that this was the best event they had attended. We received many compliments after the event about the speakers and the format.
Look for the agenda of our next event on May 25th.

First Evening Meeting a Big Success
|
 | | Raffle winner Jim Booth |
Our April 27 evening meeting was a major success. Nearly 300 Patriots turned out at the Horseman's Club to hear Congressman McClintock and Tea Party Co-founder Mark Meckler discuss current events in Washington.
At the end of the evening there was a drawing for a "split the pot" raffle, which was won by Jim Booth. To everyone's surprise and delight, Jim donated the $280 back to the Tea Party Patriots.

Don't Let the Liberals Take Control of the California Redistricting Process
| |
The California Redistricting Commission will be meeting May 19th from 6 - 9pm on Thursday May 19th at the Placer County Supervisor's Chamber at 101 Cirby Hills Road in Auburn. Please put this on your calendar to attend and see what 's going on with this commission. They will be taking input from our area. This is our one and only chance for another 10 years to let them know we are paying attention. At the other Commission meeting the liberals have packed the meetings and the conservatives were not to be seen. Let's change that and show up in our red shirts. Elaine and Stan will be there. Will you?

| A Bold and Carefully Constructed Federal Budget
by Fran Freedle
| |
"In all the chapters of human history, there has never been anything quite like America. This budget keeps America exceptional, and preserves its promise for the next generation." Congressman Paul Ryan, (R ) WI, House Budget Committee Chairman, on April 15 at the presentation of the "Path to Prosperity" (Fiscal Year 2012 Budget Resolution).
The Fiscal Year 2012 Federal Budget offers a compassionate and optimistic contrast to a future of healthcare rationing and unbearably higher taxes. It lifts the crushing burden of debt, repairs the safety net, makes our American tax system fair and competitive, and ensures that health and retirement programs have a strong and lasting future.
It takes steps to rein in spending by reforming the drivers of fiscal imbalances namely the tax code and mandatory spending programs. Here are some key components of the plan compared to the President's Budget:
Spending:
-
Cuts $6.2 trillion in government spending over the next decade.
-
Eliminates hundreds of duplicative programs, reflects the ban on earmarks, and curbs corporate welfare bringing non-security discretionary spending to below 2008 levels.
Debts and Deficits:
Taxes:
-
Keeps taxes low so the economy can grow. Eliminates roughly $800 billion in tax increases imposed by Obamacare. Prevents $1.5 trillion tax increase in President's budget.
-
Calls for a simpler, less burdensome tax code. Lowers tax rates for individuals, businesses and families. Improves incentives for growth, savings and investment.
Growth and Jobs:
-
Creates nearly 1 million new private-sector jobs next year with annual increases, and results in 2.5 million additional private-sector jobs in the last year of the decade.
-
Unleashes prosperity and economic security, yielding $1.1 trillion in higher wages and an average $1,000 per year in higher income for each family.
The Heritage Foundation analysis reports the following facts:
-
Fiscal Year 2012 Budget tax reform policies lower rates on labor and capital providing incentives to supply more of these productive resources. This causes revenue to be higher, reduces government spending and lowers expectations of future higher taxes, a combination that encourages job growth
-
$9.3 trillion fewer dollars will be spent by the Federal government over the decade
-
The ratio of debt to GDP is projected to be 65% versus the President's plan of 107%
-
Reduces the deficit in 10 years versus the President's plan
-
The "Path to Prosperity" is clearly a solid step toward a stronger economic and fiscal future with a high potential for success.

Freedom from Religion May Not Mean Freedom from State Regulations
by Rick Briggs
|
Thomas Jefferson stated " On every question of construction, let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the the probable one in which it was passed." The first amendment to the constitution of the United States states " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for the redress of grievances." The first of the ten Amendments ( Bill of Rights ratified effective December15, 1791) is not by it's order more important then the following Amendments. It is by it's content one of the most controversial in substance because of it's many parts. Looking back at what Jefferson said the colonist were making sure this new country of theirs could not be ruled by a government enforced religion, an establishment OF religion, not From religion. We as Americans have the right to worship. Recently some individuals were arrested for reading from their bibles at a DMV. The news made it sound as if this was the ONLY part of the story. The rest of the story, as the saying goes, is that a proper request needed to be applied for, and recently another Church group had done so and was able to share the gospel at the same location for weeks. It did pain the officers to have to arrest and escort the Bible readers away but they were given three warning before the arrest. Now one could state that this was a violation of their first amendment rights, but the Tenth amendment states " The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." The states do have the right to enact state law and local government can also create local ordinances, not contrary to the Constitution but in conjunction with local demands. The Constitution doesn't state that drivers have to stop at stop signs. But chaos would soon prevail if we didn't. So, like it or not the Bible could be read but at that location only in conjunction with the local ordnance. If the citizens do not agree with this, the right to petition the government for redress of grievances should be their next recourse of action. |
