July 4th Celebration!
Last year our 4th of July float was the talk of Nevada County. This year it's going to be bigger and better than ever. Mark Meckler, the co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, will be leading the parade again.
In 2009 we had over 200 Tea Party Patriots in red shirts marching with us plus antiques cars and motorcycles. Some people wore period costume. Everyone that participated had a great time.
We'd like you to join us this year and help us make our presence known to all. You don't have to be a member to join us in the parade. Just show up with friends and family in a red shirt. NCTPP red shirts and hats will be available at the float. Bring your flags and banners and other patriotic items. Last year the kids that joined up really enjoyed themselves. We still need several 3' x 4" American flags to decorate our float.
The float is designed for people who can't walk the parade or would rater ride, and also for young children. The float will again be covered with a large shaded area to keep you comfortable.
We will meet at 1 pm at space 16 on East Broad Street as our starting point. The parade will begin promptly at 2 pm. We cannot load anyone on the float once the parade begins. Parking and shuttle service is available at the Rood Center on Highway 20 in Nevada City.
Please make sure your signs and banners are appropriate for all, including children.
Immediately after the parade we will be setting up a booth at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. If you would like to help at the booth, just show up at space #22. We look forward to seeing you there.
Decorating Committee:
If you would like to help us decorate our float and have lunch with us, show up at 10 AM at the Nevada City Carriage Company. Their address is 421 Uren Street in Nevada City. If you are coming from Grass Valley, get off Highway 49 at Uren, make two right turns & you'll be there. Parking should be on the same side of the street at the NC Carriage Company.
