Greetings!

"No one could make a greater mistake than he
who did nothing because he could do a little."

Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797)

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is scared of us. How do we know? Because they are funding a new website called "The Tea Party is Over Now". http://www.theteapartyisover.org

We have included a link to a source that has found the money connection:
http://leedoren.com/2010/01/29/breaking-theteapartyisover-org-seiu

This is exactly the kind of dirty politics that the public employee unions play. They have the money to attack us any way they want. The Citizen Power Campaign is the only way we can try to stop the corruption in California government.

This is why we need you to volunteer a couple of hours to collect signatures for this very important ballot initiative. We can set-up outside Grocery Outlet, Sav-Mart, Penny's Café, SPD, Kmart, Raley's and others. We will provide training and signs. It really is a lot of fun and you will be doing something to help a cause you believe in. Please help!

2010 has started off great, just as we expected. We are busy and engaged with our community.

We had our first NCTPP luncheon at the NC Contractors Board Building on January 12th. We expected around 30 Patriots to show up and were surprised to see almost 100. Fortunately, our support staff had a hunch there might be more than 30 we planned on and made enough home-made chili and beans for everyone. Mark Meckler was our guest speaker and, as usual, gave us a lot of "inside" information from the national level.

Next Luncheon

Date: Friday February 12
Time: Noon to 1 p.m.
Location: NC Contractors Office
149 Crown Point Court
(off Whispering Pines)
Grass Valley
Speaker: Anthony Halby
Topic: Federal and State
Health Care Programs
Bring questions you have about this important issue.

We charge $5 to help cover our expenses. A donation jar will also be there if you care to add to it. Please put this event on your calendar for every month on the second Friday. We will attempt to find an interesting speaker that will take just a few minutes of your time.

Our January 23 Tea Party Party was a tremendous success, far exceeding our expectations. There was plenty of food, desserts, music and interesting speakers. Tom McClintock was our surprise guest speaker. When he was introduced he received a long standing ovation. Many of our elected officials were in attendance as well as some candidates.

We expected about 200 Patriots to show up. The actual count was over 400! As we are very new to this, we apologize for underestimating the crowd. Yes, the band was much too loud and we expressed this to them. If we use them again, and we'd like to, they have promised to let us decide the sound levels. Also, we were told by many of you that there needed to be some quiet time to have conversations with others. We agree. It will be even better next time.

Your Board of Directors is working on a location and date to hold a candidate's forum at which the candidates for Nevada County offices can discuss their positions and answer questions from our moderators and the audience. We think that this is an important election at all levels of government, including our local officials in Nevada County. As the Tea Party Patriots are non-partisan, we are in the perfect position to sponsor the debates. We have talked to The Union & KNCO and they are interested in participating with us in this event. More details will folow as we have them.

Our next Board of Directors meeting will be held Thursday February 11th from 6 to 8 pm. Meetings are held at the NC Contractors Board building. All meetings are open to the public.

Please remember what is written at the top of this newsletter by Edmund Burke. It's very important to our future success.

Stan Meckler, President
Nevada County Tea Party Patriots
