Getting Smart Friends,

The Getting Smart team spent last week in Indianapolis for the annual iNACOL Virtual School Symposium (VSS) that showed great promise for the growth and expansion for online and blended learning initiatives across the U.S. and globe.

At VSS, iNACOL released its most recent study, Online and Blended Learning: A Survey of Policy and Practice of K-12 Schools Around the World, which showcases the ways the world is taking on new digital learning tools. For more, read our article "iNACOL Releases New Online & Blended Learning Study."

In our recent post, "10 Cool Ideas at iNACOL's Virtual School Symposium," we highlight some of our favorites tid bits from the conference.

The Thomas B. Fordham Institute released two must-read reports this week that will help advance policy in personal digital learning. Read Tom's op-ed "Creating Sound Policy for Digital Learning" for more.

This week we're also following the free 2011 Global Education Conference online. Tom presented on the promise and potential of personal digital learning Monday. Click here to view the presentation recording.

See you next time,
