Betty Collum Young Writers Scholarship
Many of you knew Betty Collum, a wonderful Writing Projecct
friend and dedicated teacher from Eupora who worked with our site and the
Mississippi State Writing Project. Her
love for teaching writing to elementary students shone through everything that
she did.
Betty passed away in March 2009, and we would like to honor
her memory by beginning the Betty Collum Young Writers Scholarship for several
deserving students in our Summer 2010 Young Writers Workshops. Normally the workshop cost is $50 for
students, which may be difficult for some families in these economic
times. Please help us honor Betty's
memory by assisting an emerging writer.
Please send your donations to the UMWP, P.O. Box 9, University, MS 38677.
