| Dear ,
Welcome! Arno and I just came back from the Light & Building Preview in Munich where leading companies presented the highlights of what they will be showing in Frankfurt this year. What was really new? Are new trends recognizable? Yes, indeed. Firstly, a few years ago, the main topic in LED lighting was to present a "running system". This has changed completely into LED lighting solutions that serve human needs for lighting (parameters and functions are design, tuneable colors, efficiency, sensor based systems etc.). Secondly, more and more companies are producing Zhaga compatible modules which are standardized, at least in terms of their geometric dimensions. In general, we can say that LED light will take the next step from purely technical, non-harmonized systems to need-oriented, standardized solutions. Traditional light sources went through this process and it seems that LED light is headed towards this destination as well.

LED lighting has evolved into a promising solution for replacing conventional lighting sources, such as fluorescent and incandescent lights. However, designers face several obstacles in residential and commercial LED lighting applications up to 20W including bulb, down lighting (GU10/E17, E26/27, PAR30/38) and Tube/Bar. Implementing dimming capabilities in a conventional TRIAC dimmer infrastructure is challenging because of dimmer compatibility. Additionally, small space requirements remain a ... Read more »

LED lighting technology continues to grow in popularity due to its fast start up, low energy consumption, long-life and reliability. This is particularly true in markets that include Home Automation lighting, commercial road and street lighting, highway lighting, sign lighting and industrial lighting. Since LEDs are more susceptible to surges and transients, realizing the maximum potential from LED lighting requires high performance surge protection. Read more »
