Van & Molly in the News
Greetings!

Welcome to SmallCorp News, our bi-monthly effort to stay in touch and share some of the valuable tips and information we've accumulated in our 40 years of manufacturing museum-quality display cases and picture frames.

If you find the newsletter useful, please feel free to pass it along to a colleague who might benefit from it, and if you have suggestions on improvements or future topics, don't hesitate to let me know.

Thank you again for your association with SmallCorp, we couldn't do it without you.

Best regards,
Mike Dunphy

Connecting Cultures at The Brooklyn Museum

SmallCorp is proud of our role in the latest long-term installation in The Brooklyn Museum's Great Hall.  "Connecting Cultures" includes an eclectic mix from the museum's vast collection, from a 14 foot tall tower of ancient Buddhas to Nick Cave's Sound Suit (below).

 Nick Cave's sound suit

The recent opening met with rave reviews from the New York Times. Among other things, we provided 35 cases, including the Buddha Tower, and a handful of pedestals like the one pictured above.

Three of the cases (including the one pictured below) feature SPD-SmartGlass, an innovative new product that blocks light  to protect sensitive objects on display (in this case a 15th century Incan tunic).

With the push of a button the tinted glass turns clear, allowing visitors to view the objects inside, and then turns dark again. (An adjustable internal timer limits light exposure). We can also outfit SmartGlass cases with motion sensors, as appropriate.

      Celebrating         40 Years of AIC

Not only is it SmallCorp's 40th year in business, the same is true of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. We'll be joining the celebration next week in Albuquerque at the AIC'c 40th Annual Meeting.

 Albuqurque Skyline and Mountains

Stop by booth 205-207, visit with Wendy and Mike and test out the SPD-Smartglass case pictured here.  We'll be showcasing our latest LED products, and a case with lights running on batteries and a motion sensor. We hope to see you there!

Brass Picture Frames

Thanks to all who responded to our survey in the last issue.  We're tabulating results and working on some samples and pricing models. Watch for an update next issue!
