Greetings!

Welcome to SmallCorp News, our bi-monthly effort to stay in touch and share some of the valuable tips and information we've accumulated in nearly 40 years manufacturing museum-quality display cases and picture frames.

If you find the newsletter useful, please feel free to pass it along to a colleague who might benefit from it, and if you have suggestions on improvements or future topics, don't hesitate to let me know.

Thank you again for your association with SmallCorp, we couldn't do it without you.

Best regards,
Mike Dunphy

SmallCorp recognized

The Hampshire Franklin Regional  Employment Board honored SmallCorp at its annual legislative breakfast last week, for workforce development leadership and community involvement.

Van, Molly, Hoyt and Jen attended, along with many local and regional employers, and school and government officials.

SmallCorp has used many of the Board's programs over the years, both here at our shop and at the local community college.

Policy Reminder

Thank you to all of you who have been making the effort to open and inspect your shipments from us in a timely manner. For everyone else, you may have noticed the big orange stickers on our packaging that says "Please Inspect Immediately"?

Inspect Immediately Decal

Inspecting your package when it arrives is a good idea for two reasons:

If you wait until the day your project is due, and you open the box to find the product was damaged in shipping, or was otherwise incorrect, neither we nor you will have enough time to react and still meet your deadline.

If you waited longer than ten days to inspect the shipment only to find that it arrived damaged, we won't be able to apply for reimbursement from the freight company, and you'll have to order new product at your expense, and that's no fun either.

Holiday Schedule

We wish you and your families  a safe and happy holiday season. SmallCorp's 2011 holiday schedule is as follows:

12/23/11 - closing at 11 AM

12/26/11 - closed

12/27 - 12/30 - open

1/2/12 - closed

Blowing our own Horn

Blowing Our Own Horn

We've been busy! Here are just a few of the projects we've been involved with recently:

New York Historical Society - We supplied four 72" x 160" aluminum frames to house historic street scene murals and a case for a Revolutionary War-era torah in the Grand Rotunda, as a part of the Historical Society's November re-opening. Read more

Museum of Russian Icons - Smallcorp supplied wall and freestanding cases for the Sacred Russian Castings exhibit that opened in October.

Walton Ford - This Massachusetts artist uses SmallCorp's paper-faced aluminum honeycomb panels for his giant paintings, the latest of which are on view now at the Paul Kasmin Gallery.

Armenian Library and Museum of America - SmallCorp manufactured exhibit cases to display some of the largest collection of Armenian cultural artifacts outside Armenia.

The Frazier History Museum - We supplied The Frazier Museum in Louisville, KY with cases for their Toy Soldiers exhibit, which opened December 10.

In addition, SmallCorp will be featured in the January edition of ArchitectureLeadersToday magazine. The article will focus on our recent work at Yale University, Detroit Institute of the Arts and El Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino in Santiago, Chile.

SmallCorp Mailing Address Update

We eliminated our PO box last spring. All our mail gets delivered to 19 Butternut Street now, except, that is, mail that's still being addressed to our PO box. Unfortunately, that mail is being returned to sender, even when it has both the PO box and the street address. Occasionally even some letters that were correctly addressed have been returned, and we're working with the local Post Office to get that resolved. Our apologies to anyone who has had trouble with this.

Our correct address is:

Discontinued

Please be aware, we trimmed our product line a little this fall. We are no longer making OHP panels or black-painted wood picture frames.

We just weren't selling enough of either of them. We're sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.  If you have black-painted wood corner samples, contact us and we'll replace them with some alternative samples at no charge.
