SmallCorp has recently had installed a 100 kw solar electricity generating system consisting of 425 roof-mounted solar panels. At present, these panels are providing 100% of the electricity used to power our company's manufacturing activity.
The system was designed and installed by Solar Design Associates of Harvard, Massachusetts, and key components of the system were manufactured in our state, saving transportation resources and supporting our local economy.
Our long-term goal is to maintain our consumption of electricity equal to the amount used in our production by developing energy saving measures in our plant and by engaging our workforce in smart energy use. Some of the energy-saving measures we have already in place in our office, shop and warehouse are:
-
High efficiency lighting with motion sensors in all work areas
-
High efficiency air compressor
-
High efficiency on-demand hot water heater
-
Recycling of compostable waste and all metals and plastic scrap
-
Night setback thermostats in all areas
We also incorporate energy efficiency into our products whenever possible. Some of the ways SmallCorp has found to do this are:
- Development of ultra high efficiency led lighting systems for use in exhibit cases
- Development of exhibit cases with passive environmental control to allow clients to reduce energy costs
Our plan for furthering our energy conservation efforts will include:
- Heat recovery from process equipment
- Measures to encourage staff to reduce transportation energy use
So, the next time you order from SmallCorp, you can rest assured that we are doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint while giving you the quality products you have come to expect from us.
