Lake for JazzTrax Summer Festival. Temperatures are to hit inside the lower 60's today in the Southern California Mountains for the first time this Winter. That's called Spring Skiing at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, but alas, I had to leave the Mountain at 6 a.m. to bring my son back to school in Palm Springs. As I rounded Baldwin Lake, the Eastern Extension of Big Bear Lake that is usually dry, I noticed, just before sunrise that it is now filled with water as the Snow Melt from this Winter's biggest Southern California snowfalls since 1969 will absolutely have our JazzTrax Summer Music Festival Lake brimming, blue, and beautiful! We are right now adding that 'flavor' that for nearly a Quarter Century JazzTrax Festival goers have loved and expect. Always a sprinkling of artists you likely have never heard of before whom you'll return home spreading the word about. We introduced the world to Jesse Cook in 1995. Likewise we were the first to put Mindi Abair on a World Stage way back in the Mid 90's. Jessy J in 2006. Heck, the Rippingtons and David Benoit as unknowns in 1987, our debut JazzTrax year. Last year it was east coasters guitarist Drew Davidsen and saxophonist Phillip 'Doc' Martin. Already this year we've added to our Island 'spice', Durham, North Carolina saxophonist Marcus Anderson, and a Southern California saxophonist with one hell of a horn Section to match...
