JazzTrax Guest
Alex Bugnon to debut 'Going Home'
At long last Swiss keyboardist Alex Bugnon returns to the JazzTrax Studio this week and with a brand new CD. He'll debut 'Going Home' and tell how he practices piano alone in his neighborhood church in his little Hudson Valley town up the Hudson River an hour from New York and how after growing up above Montreaux in the Swiss Alps he's addicted to watching World Cup Down Hill Skiing on TV. Guess he'll be glued to the Winter Olympics. |

Producer's Notes: Big Bear Line-Up Announced |

While you are giving Valentines and gathering around the TV to watch the Opening Ceremonies from Vancouver this Friday Night, we're unleashing summer on you. Tickets for the 5th Annual Big Bear Lake JazzTrax Summer Music Festival go On Sale Friday Feb 12th. Purchase online without waiting for an operator selecting the exact seats of your choice at jazztrax.com or purchase via the old fashioned telephone 866-TRAX TIX.
We've just posted a whole array of pictures on our Big Bear page at jazztrax.com that display the brand new JazzTrax festival concert site right on the Lake. See the lakeside lawn from which you will sit in June's summertime 75 to 80 degree mountain air watching the performances on our new 'floating stage'. Mindi Abair, Euge Groove, Alex Bugnon, Nick Colionne, Cindy Bradley and Jackiem Joyner. It is an amazing summertime 'Ski In, Ski Out' weekend (but don't bring the skiis...). We mean that once you arrive and if you stay at one of our Host Hotels, you won't have to drive anywhere. Walk into the JazzTrax Festival lakeside venue at the Marina Resort. Or walk the other way into the Village of Big Bear Lake for restaurants and shopping. Summer's JazzTrax Festival is now right in the Village of Big Bear and right on the Lake.
At jazztrax.com see pictures and see exactly how to purchase a Hotel Ticket Package directly from the Marina Resort where the JazzTrax Festival will be held on Father's Day Weekend. Your hotel room will literally be looking out over the Lake, and over the concert venue. To stay at the Marina Resort JazzTrax Weekend (June 18, 19, 20) you must book the JazzTrax Hotel Ticket Package directly through the Marina Resort. Do not wait. There are only 'x' amount of hotel rooms within the festival location at the Marina Resort. These are expected to be grabbed up first.
Next suggested lodging 'best bet' is the JazzTrax Festival Official Headquarters. Robin Hood Resort, directly across the street from the festival venue. Nottingham's at Robin Hood has the Festival After Parties, upstairs in Friar Tuck's Tavern. Details on the Robin Hood Resort Hotel & Ticket Package can be found as well on the Big Bear Festival Page at JazzTrax.com.
Staying at either of these Host Hotels guarantees no drinking and driving. They are literally RIGHT THERE at the JazzTrax Festival. Both are in the Village of Big Bear Lake. Simply walk to everything!
As for October on Catalina Island you can view some of the Line-Up Posted right now on-line at JazzTrax.com. we're holding off for the Big Announcement until next week's e-mail, so we can finish confirming a couple of the BIGGEST Headliners and to let Big Bear have it's week. Almost all of October's major island headliners are confirmed. So go ahead and peak at the Catalina page at jazztrax.com. Even though I would have been fine if my home state Colts had won the SuperBowl, how can you get past that priceless moment post game with Drew Brees holding his one year old son in the middle of the field in Miami with tears welling up in his eyes. The MVP of the Super Bowl finding it hard to believe what just happened and sharing it with his infant son, immediately. So bring on the Winter Games in my favorite Ski Place on Earth... Whistler! And bring on a lifelong Smooth Jazz SKIER to be our JazzTrax Guest as the Olympics begin, on the JazzTrax Radio Show just published on-line which airs across America this weekend. Swiss keyboardist Alex Bugnon will tell how he's addicted to watching World Cup Downhill Skiing on TV. He'll tell how he grew up in a boarding school, just up the Mountain in the Alps above Montreaux simply because his parents had bought the school and were running it in his youth. With the Swiss ski slopes almost staring at him across the street. Oh, and he brings to the JazzTrax Studio his brand new 2010 'Going Home' CD. Great stories of how he wound up living up the Hudson River area in New York, and maintains the Steinway piano in his local Hudson Valley Episcopal Church so he can practice on it...alone in the sanctuary whenever he wants. These are great new songs to celebrate Valentines Weekend with. But if you just have to have some saxophone with your attempts at romance, it's the 1986 Kenny G break-through CD 'Duotones' from the JazzTrax Archives, 24 years back in time including 'Songbird' and 'Slip of the Tongue'. Listen right now and remember, listening on-line, if you like a song, you can move the show backwards and listen to the song as many times as you'd like! Start listening and start thinking summertime mountain air watching the stars of Smooth Jazz on top of Big Bear Lake in June.
