JazzTrax Guest
Les Cutmore
We've got somethin' quite a bit different on JazzTrax this weekend to debut this Holiday Season's brand new seasonal CD. It comes from London's Trippin 'n' Rhythm Records. And stars the artist roster of that British label, although all the artists are certainly, not British. British keyboardist Oli Silk does 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town'. Debut trumpeter Cindy Bradley who stole the show on Catalina Island touches up "Do You Hear What I Hear." Tim Bowman, Gregg Karukas, U-Nam and Jaared have their own selections and altogether as the Trippin' All Stars, they perform "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Paul Hardcastle not only offers up the project's only original composition, but on "Coming Home for Christmas" Paul's daughter Maxine is on backing vocals while his son, Paul Hardcastle Jr. Handles the saxophone. But what's different about our debut this week of what they call 'The Very Best of Christmas' our guest is the President of Trippin 'n' Rhythm" Records, Les Cutmore. We visit him at his home just outside London, in Essex. In December our JazzTrax Archives Album spotlight turns to the Seasonal Smooth Jazz releases of the past 20 years. Peter White's 1997 'Songs of the Season.' Chris Botti's 'December'. Bing Crosby Croons his Holiday classics as does Slim Man. And all the 25 years (that's a quarter Century) of Mannheim Steamroller's classic take on Christmas. |

Producer's Notes: Best 0f 2009 Announcements |

2009 is almost in the can for me in terms of show production. I'm in production right now on the JazzTrax Best of 2009 Radio Special that will air on the JazzTrax Syndicated Airwaves Christmas Weekend. Now, those of you who receive our weekly eBlasts don't have to wait because on next week's eBlast, one week from now, you'll get the lists on your computer. The JazzTrax picks of 'Top 10 Albums of the Year'. 'Top 10 Songs of the Year'.
We've already announced that Jesse Cook has earned honors for 'Album of the Year' and Trumpeter Cindy Bradley for 'Debut Artist Of The Year'. Next week you'll have the complete JazzTrax picks list, right here on your computer.Oh, we closed the Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival Radio Special last weekend with the concert portion we named JazzTrax 'Best Live Performance of 2009'. George Duke, Sunday Night, October 18th, in the Avalon Ballroom on Catalina Island. You can still listen to that full 5 hour radio special on-line at JazzTrax.com as well as the new show we've just published that is Smooth Jazz Rockin' Christmas and lots of 2009's very best songs.
Foot of snow came down in Big Bear Lake, California at the JazzTrax Studio unexpectedly over Thanksgiving Weekend. The Village of Big Bear is still badly twisting my arm to continue the JazzTrax Summer Music Festival at a new location right on the Lake itself, perhaps with a floating stage. You can park your car right at one of the three lakefront hotels, including the festival site, or at the host hotel, the Robin Hood Resort, and never get back in your car! Walk into the venue. Walk to your hotel room. Walk into the village for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Drink and frolic while never getting behind the wheel of your vehicle until the festival is over. Want to twist my arm? email info@jazztrax.com if you want to see JazzTrax in Big Bear Lake in the Southern California Mountains again this Summer.
Happy December Everybody
