Sittin' here at the JazzTrax Studio on my Mountain Lake in Big Bear. Well I can see it through the trees down the hill about a half mile. I've just wrapped up production on Thanksgiving Weekend's Annual Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival Radio Special. Didn't even see my mountain lake for five days as I clawed through 33 concerts that were recorded over our three JazzTrax Festival Weekends in October on Catalina Island. What you'll hear is the very best selections and most interesting on mike statements by the Stars of Smooth Jazz, all melded into a full 5-hour radio special. It will air Thanksgiving Weekend, but, on-line, it gets published next Tuesday. Starting November 24th, you can listen to the Concerts From Catalina at your leisure, wherever you have a computer, and listen over and over again. Using your browser even to push back and listen to a song, a performance you liked again.
Wanna do us a favor as we build the attendance back up from this year's recession? E-mail a couple friends when you get next week's eBlast reminder, and tell them to listen in to the Festival Special on-line and talk them into joining you on the Island next October. (there's even a link at the bottom of this very eBlast to make it easy to share)
I hate to repeat myself, but if you come with another couple, or couple friends, and get an in-town rental house with multiple bedrooms, and usually a kitchen and a comfy living room. You can knock down the expense of this festival dramatically. Barbecue a bit, cause we leave you nearly 4 hours between the Afternoon & Evening Sessions (and there's a Von's right in the middle of town... actually two). Catalina Island Vacation Rentals (
catalinavacations.com) have numerous in town rental houses and they are... fabulous. But tell them JazzTrax sent you.
But along with finding a ping pong table for my 10 year old son for Christmas, I'm lookin' hard at Big Bear Lake again for June. The Village of Big Bear Lake has found us an 'on the lake' setting, in the village, Four hotels adjoin it. Park your car on Friday night and put your keys on the counter until Monday, or late Sunday Night. Just walk into JazzTrax on the Lake. And into the Village for all your meals. Should we do it? You like the idea of a Floating Stage with the Smooth Jazz Stars literally performing on the water as you sit on the lakefront? Many of you responded this past week. Sounding like we should do it. We are looking at Father's Day Weekend in June for Big Bear Lake.
You can always e-mail us your comments.
[email protected]. Hope your week is going well. Wherever you put your feet down. We can make it go better, if you tune in, on-line to this week's JazzTrax Radio Showcase. It's playing,
right now.
