JazzTrax Guest
A 'Good Day' with Peter White
Peter White's very first radio interview as he began his solo career 19 years ago was with Art Good on JazzTrax. This weekend he returns for the umpteenth time to debut yet another brand new CD, 'Good Day', Peter's first project of brand new compositions since 2004 (having done a project of covers & Christmas in between). Basia is a guest and Peter will tell the story of that song and other songs and how it came to be that British Keyboardist Oli Silk would have just spent the Summer staying at Peter White's home in Los Angeles. Peter will also remember his very first big stage solo concert... at the 1991 Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival and what he went through to figure that show out. |

Just three weeks and counting to the start of this - our 23rd - October Smooth Jazz Extravaganza on Catalina Island. With Peter White kicking everything off, 'unplugged', at the Wrigley Ranch Thursday Night October 1st (and bringing with him the songs of his Brand New September CD 'Good Day') and on the other end, George Duke wrapping up three consecutive JazzTrax Festival weekends Sunday Night, Oct. 18th.
The 2009 Festival Poster and Full Festival Program will be available sometime middle to end of next week at JazzTrax.com. The new festival merchandise with our stunning new Logo Image, created by San Diego's Club Cohiba, with high end shirts to match, are running off the presses even as I speak. And all the newest CD's of all 30 performing artists will be on sale all month long. They are in shipment to Avalon right now.
I've gotten e-mails this Summer from festival goers who have moved from California, one back to Indiana, Who nonetheless cannot miss October on Smooth Jazz Island and even as it's more effort now, they are returning for the one weekend of the year they cannot miss for anything.
Let me mention a couple things you might not know that might have some of you at this last second saying,"Honey, look at this. Maybe we can go to Catalina Island and JazzTrax this year after all!" We all know the economy is improving, but even so, the hotels in Avalon are finally realizing the need to give up something to make it easier for you this year. Check out our Hotel Deals section at JazzTrax.com. And feel free to call your favorite hotel and see if they have deals they never had before. Ask if they have a 3rd night at half price on a 3-night stay. Ask if they'll give you a 4th night free to do Unplugged at the Ranch, if you are already staying three nights. Catalina Island Vacation Rentals is already offering, just that! There are deals to be had that didn't exist when you purchased your tickets. Deals to be had from even those you purchased from this year, that might add an extra night to your stay. But you'll need to ask now!
Like I said...it's almost here... don't miss the Magic of October on Catalina Island. |
