JazzTrax Pops a Huge October Party
Official Celebration of the The 80th Anniversary of the Avalon Ballroom

Chewing Gum Magnate William Wrigley Jr., Chicago based, and wife fell in love with Hollywood and Southern California. In 1919 Mr. Wrigley purchased the entire Island, Santa Catalina, 23 miles off the Southern California Coastline, from the Banning Brothers. He then crowned it with the "Million Dollar" Wrigley Casino built right at Ocean's Edge on the far end of Avalon Harbor in 1929. For 30 years it served as a Hollywood Happening with the Big Bands every Summer Saturday Night Broadcast Across America on CBS Radio from the Avalon Ballroom. For nearly 25 years now the Stars of Smooth Jazz have reigned as the supreme annual Entertainment delight of this 8 decade old 7th Wonder of the World.

For nearly 10 years all of JazzTrax shows have been Webcast not just America, but to the World, Art Good hosts the Official Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Casino and it's 'High in the Sky' Avalon Ballroom during this October's 3 Weekend JazzTrax Festival Extravaganza. When you arrive in October, after walking up the ramps designed just like the Cubs Wrigley Field on Chicago's North Side (same architect), you will literally step back in time as you enter the world's largest unobstructed ballroom Overlooking the Pacific Ocean just outside the many french doors that open onto a verandah that circles from 8 stories high. One of the world's most breathtaking panoramic ocean views even as the Stars of Smooth Jazz pour their tunes forth Live from within this spectacular, 80 year old ballroom.

The Avalon Ballroom inside the Wrigley Casino, since 1927.

Showcase of the Absolute Newest!

JazzTrax Debut
Four 80 East
Two guys from Toronto who named their late 90's new project after their studio's street address near the Blue Jays massive Sky Dome in Toronto: Four 80 East. Rob DeBoar and Tony Grace (streaming right now on JazzTrax Radio on-line), talk of the full plate of musical projects they work on daily there in Canada's Music Capital. From a pop culture TV show called 'Switch' to lots of Film and Television, including scoring a new Lionsgate Feature Film 'Death Warrior.' But mostly they talk of their Smooth Jazz Baby they do on the side, Four 80 East. Funny stories you can listen to right now include the hellish border crossing lady who makes things tough as they are increasingly being asked to perform at Smooth Jazz Festivals across the border in the U.S. ...and of their Coffee Lounge at Four80East.com.

Four 80 East and JazzTrax have been entwined since Art Good talked them out of only being an in 'studio project band,' to making their on-stage debut, and simultaneous U.S. Debut at the 2002 Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival. They tell the story of that lst trip to Avalon in their 2007 CD liner notes. They return this October for the 3rd time to the Smooth Jazz Island off the Southern California coast where their live shows first began seven years ago. Oh, and their new 'Roll On' being debuted right now on JazzTrax On Demand and across America this weekend before it's release next week! Themed to the Roller Rinks of our childhood where even Rob & Tony up in Canada would race around, chasing 'hot chicks'.

1995 Chris Botti
On this Weekend's JazzTrax Syndicated Radio Show (already streaming at JazzTrax.com), we relive the 1995 Solo Debut of Trumpeter Chris Botti. 14 years later he is now the No. l selling instrumentalist in our genre, surpassing now even the current sales of Kenny G. But even as he is now a World Touring International Cross-Over Superstar, recording with the likes of Josh Groban, Sting - with whom he toured for years and remains best friends - John Mayer, and more, in Spring '95 he was just a young session player, originally from Corvallis, Oregon, begging to have Smooth Jazz Radio play his tunes. We listen each hour this week off the 'First Wish' CD.

Trumpeter Cindy Bradley To Appear All 3 October Weekends This past weekend JazzTrax introduced America to young debut Trumpet and Flugelhorn player Cindy Bradley on the JazzTrax Syndicated Radio Airwaves (Listen Now!). She tells Art Good of growing up just outside Buffalo, more a hockey fan (Buffalo Sabres) then Buffalo Bills football, although she doesn't know how to skate. She'd been doing session work in Manhattan for a living, and still resides just across the Hudson River in New Jersey. Former Fourplay manager Jack Forshette introduced her to the record label of Paul Hardcastle and the Jazzmasters, Trippin 'N Rhythm Records. This week Cindy releases her solo debut'Bloom' across America - you will meet her on Catalina Island and see her perform Live in the Avalon Ballroom - all 3 October Weekends. She will lead in for Norman Brown, Eric Darius and finally Paul Brown and MarcAntoine.
