Greetings!
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. " Recognize that? Of course you do, it comes word for word from the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.
That part about all of us being created equal seems to have changed in some quarters, specifically in the US Congress. Our Senators and Representatives started out just like us but when they get to Washington, DC they morph. Not all of them, but enough. What happens to these people when they get inside the Beltway in Washington, DC? Far too often a transmogrification takes place and SHAZAM, they are not the people we thought they were when elected. It was recently said of this process, that "...those who decry Washington as a 'cesspool' become comfortable in the 'hot tub'". Sort of a disgusting analogy but hard to argue with.
Before we get into the perks below, lawmakers make $174,000. Note I said "make", not "earn", the cynic in me comes out at times like this. Us non-legislator type, average Americans have a median income of $49,909. After five years of service our public servants are eligible for pension at age 50 with health benefits. Not quite like the private sector, eh? And how about these goodies? Until April 4, 2012, Insider Trading was legal for our lawmakers and many other public employees and you can bet some took advantage! The Stock Act, prohibiting this, was signed into law just this past month. It is far from perfect but better than nothing. Now if anyone is convicted, they can expect to shell out up to $5 million in fines per violation. When you write the tax codes you might as well help yourself and until April 3rd they certainly did! Lawmakers still have it easy. They don't pay taxes on the free parking, free meals, daycare, or free healthcare plus they get generous tax deductions of $3,000 for expenses outside their home state. And they can spend their campaign funds on wining and dining constituents and on travel too. All legally and above board. If it is "business related" and your legislator wants to go abroad, they hook up with a committee and travel overseas on the the taxpayer. Spend what they like. Want to go back home? Travel between DC and their district is unrestricted and at no cost to them. With 365 days in the year of which 260 are for private sector laboring, Congress only puts in 137, not even three days a week, toiling at the grindstone. Or is it the trough? When was your last raise? Probably several years ago. In Congress salaries get upped automatically, unless they vote against it. Not like your world or mine. Of the 535 US Senators and Representatives, 319 are millionaires! The next time around I plan to come back as an elected Member of Congress. Sincerely,

Perimeter Fall Protection... Safety that saves you money!
 Improve Safety and Save Money? It is not too good to be true. Conventional systems are typically not reusable and are labor intensive. The Perimeter Protection Products system consists of a base plate and post. The base plate can be welded to the structural beams in the fabrication shop or in the field. The posts are then screwed into the base plates. If concrete is to be poured, they provide a protective plastic sheath to slide over the bottom of the post to facilitate easy removal at the end of the job. The posts support the wire cable at the perimeter of the building and can be easily removed and re-used on future buildings.no cutting, no fire watch, no grinding, no useless angle stanchions to dispose of, The base plates become part of the building and at the roof level can be uncovered for future use as tie-off points with our fall arrestor accessory. Perimeter Protection Products supplies base plates that will attach to many different structures. They can be welded to steel structures, imbedded in "poured in place" concrete structures, fastened to wood blocking, pre-cast concrete, or hollow core concrete planks, clamped to I-beams, clamped to parapets, and many others. The system eliminates 87% of the fall exposure at the edge of the building, saves a significant amount of labor during installation and even more during the removal. Perimeter Protection Products posts were designed to be re-usable and to protect workers at the edge of the roof, lower floor perimeter, as well as the stairwell and elevator shafts. The post system was made to eliminate the currently used angle iron that is being welded into the roof and lower floor beams which later needs to be cut off, ground down and thrown out. Besides saving on labor costs for installation and removal, the posts can be re-used. On high-rise buildings, re-use them on the higher floors after enclosing the lower ones, then re-use them on the next building, to save even more money! * 42" & 60" posts available
