Greetings!
There is a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away. I can only speak for myself but, in my world, not only do I feel held down, it is my head that is under water. While we are waiting for those thousands and millions of jobs to be created or saved, unemployment creeps up and the question, "Where are the jobs?" goes unanswered. The lights are on but no one is home. Out campaigning, maybe?
The only thing I am certain about is the uncertainty everywhere. What money I have put away for my old age is getting as much interest as it would under my mattress. The stock market seems more optimistic than is justifiably sound. Gold is up, way up, but traditionally investors turn to that commodity when anxiety levels accelerate. China has become much more of a partner in the US wallet than I feel comfortable about. Redistribution of wealth, particularly my wealth, via taxes, is not high on my list of favorites but it is with Dear Leader. Fifty percent of our citizens do not pay any income taxes, none, no skin in the game! Are you in that other fifty percent with me? Construction is down to put it mildly, but so is America's manufacturing capacity. What do we do if we need to build battleships, big guns, and planes like we once could? Do we instead import them from China? There are people out there who have sworn to kill us so we have to look out for unattended packages and be subjected to full body scans. Have you noticed the proliferation of video cameras, too? Big Brother is breathing down our necks when not apologizing on our behalf.
If there is to be a recovery that we will see before we need more powerful eyeglasses there has to be investing in our country and infrastructure, we need more work, especially construction work, and fewer entitlements. Remember when you got a mortgage only if you could afford it? And is there still such a thing as legal immigration? Humorist P. J. O'Rourke said, "If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it is free." Maybe McDonald's and 29 other companies and organizations got free pass waivers but when it comes down to Gamka and the rest of us, don't hold your breath. Can anyone tell me why we will all be filling out 1099 Forms for purchases over $600? Maybe as a foundation for a Value Added Tax? This has something to do with healthcare?
But I digress. Naturally, all of this is just between us. Speaking up and speaking out is not popular in some quarters. Just another erosion of our rights, it appears. Don't let all those dead people and drive-by voter registrants speak for us! If we don't get this country turned around on November 2, 2010 it may be too late. Vote! Sincerely,
Bob Hibler, Newsletter Editor Czar

Uncontrolled Storm Water Run-off, the Silent Killer of Our Infrastructure: FREE WEBINAR

And you are invited! Wednesday, November 17, 2010 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST
A fundamental law for concrete structures to perform as designed is a solid foundation. Well-compressed soil substrate is an absolute requirement.
Man versus Mother Nature. Thanks to the elements of extreme temperatures, torrential rains and snowmelt, Mother Nature works relentlessly to wash out and destroy soils surrounding our man-made infrastructure.
The enemy is storm water run-off. Unchecked, storm water run-off leads to erosion and destructive groundwater migration. Eventually, voids and undermining convert to sinkholes. For public works, community confidence is compromised. For private industry, interruption of productivity is costly.
Combat the Forces of Nature with Polyurethane Grouts. During this live learning event, you'll understand why it's critical to build a stronger defense and the consequence of no action. · Soil Stabilization · Void Fill and Slab Jacking · Culvert Rehabilitation and Joint Seal · Symptoms indicating soil challenges · Simple cost/benefit comparison
Featured structures defining our Infrastructure · Above Ground-highways, bridges, tanks and plant facilities· Below Grade-storm collection systems, tunnels, vaults and seawalls

Trailer Safety Tips
One of the more common and preventable causes of accidents with towed trailers comes when the ball size is smaller than the coupler hitch size and the trailer pops loose. Many dual axle trailers will roll merrily along on their own until they run into a bigger object.
Now for the safety suggestion to help prevent that detachment from happening. Color Code the Ball end of the hitch on the truck and the coupler receiver end on the Trailer. Use Green on both pieces for 1-7/8" sizes, blue for 2" and red for 2-5/16".
Match the colors of the hitch and the coupler and you will know that nothing will fall off. Another alternative is to go to Pintle Hooks and Lunette Rings.
Here are a few more tips:
- Always use safety chains. If you cross them under the trailer tongue it will help prevent the trailer tongue from dropping to the road in the event of a separation.
- Load at least 60% of the cargo weight in the front half of the trailer.
- When it is the other way, you will find that the trailer will wag like a dog's tail. The cargo weight should also be equally distributed from side to side.
- Check the hitch connection often to be sure nothing is getting loose.
- Make certain that the loaded trailer and cargo weight does not exceed the towing vehicle's weight capacity.
- Make sure the trailer lights and brakes work and that the tires are properly inflated.
- Tie the cargo down securely. Even if it doesn't fall off, those dedicated to public safety will give you a ticket.
- And don't forget to chock and block the wheels if you disconnect the trailer from the truck.
Like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans sang, "Happy trails to you... ".
