UW-Madison Seminars in Pediatrics Sep 23-24, 2010
Pediatric Infectious Disease -- Madison, WI
The UW Dept. of Pediatrics invites pediatricians and family practice physicians to attend the 2010 Seminars in Pediatrics conference on September 23-24, 2010.  Invited speaker, Gary Marshall, MD Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville School of Medicine will discuss parents concerns about vaccines, general rules for vaccines and fever of unknown origin.

Additional invited speakers include Peter Havens, MD, MS, (Medical College of Wisconsin) discussing HIV infection in children; Ken Cheyne, MD (University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine) discussing sexually transmitted infections and Thomas Boyce, MD, MPH, (Mayo Clinic), discussing preparing for influenza.  Additional topics include vaccine controversies, sinusitis, UTIs, intercountry adoptions, Kawasaki Syndrome, screening for TB, dermatology and more.

New Report on Infant and Toddler Services in WI
The Wisconsin Council on Children and Families and the Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental health have completed a joint policy brief entitled "Infants and Toddlers: Crucial Years of Development." The brief focuses particularly on the growing understanding birth-to-three development, the increased numbers of very young children in out-of-home care, and the implications for public policy.  View the full brief at:
