HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The weather has turned cold and all the leaves have fallen from the trees.  This can only mean one thing... Holiday time!  We here at Ruckus Rules would like to extend a bit of Cheer to you and yours during this amazing season.

On a more personal note, I would like to say thank you to all the amazing people in my life.  As most of you know, in the last two months I have lost my oldest brother and my father.  While this is difficult, with your support it has been bearable.

And to my sweet man Ruckus, thanks for traveling with me and hanging by my side.  Anyone who has gone through any type of tragedy knows how much a pet senses our pain and is there by us to provide unconditional love and support.

With that said...
Don't forget that every photo or logo in this email is a direct link!

Rescue

Olives Heros

Our dear friend Olive thinks the best of people. That's why her mom Bridget helped her start Olive's Heroes, a project that raises awareness about the awesomeness of dogs from rescue and money for dogs in need. They want to spread the word about how great dogs in rescue are. And to raise money for those heroes that do good for dogs, one dog at a time. Each month, they pick a rescue group to promote on our blog and website. They make arrangements with our shopping partners to donate a portion of their profits to these rescue groups from folks who shop on their site and use the coupon code "Olive" in their coupon code box. They provide a link to the rescue so that you can donate directly.
Some other cool fundraising stuff they do it to donate a nickel for every follower we get on twitter for that month.
AND
Through the sale of Olive's Notecards, they raise money for the Olive's Heroes Fund, which donates money to dogs that need emergency medical care.

Ten Tips to Keep the Holidays Happy for Your Pets

The holiday season brings many of us together for fun and festivity. Whether you are planning a gathering at your home or are invited to spend a few days with relatives or friends, you will need to consider the needs of your pets and any guests. Here are some things to think about:

If you cannot take your pet with you on the trip, arrange for boarding or a pet sitter well in advance so that you are sure that they will have someone to care for them

If you are planning to have houseguests, make sure that they know you have pets and that they do not have allergies or other concerns

Make sure that your pet has somewhere safe and comfortable to 'get away' from the hustle and bustle if it becomes overwhelming. Setting up a quiet refuge in advance is a great idea

Tell your guests what your 'house rules' are for your pets - no feeding from the table, no pets on the furniture, etc. It is a good idea to give them reasons for these rules - for example , if your pet has a sensitive digestive tract table scraps will make them ill

When the guests arrive make sure any luggage or personal possessions are safely 'stowed away' out of pet reach

If you put out snacks or appetizers, make sure they're out of reach of curious or hungry pets. It's a good idea to keep your pets out of the kitchen while preparations are underway - you don't want them to get underfoot and get burned or injured

If your guests bring gifts, especially chocolates, put them in a place that your pet can't get at them. Chocolate can be harmful to pets if they overindulge

If you're planning on decorating your home, try to use 'pet friendly' festive plants, avoiding lilies if you have kittens or cats that like to nibble on plants. Poinsettias are fine, contrary to popular belief - the sap of poinsettia is mildly irritating and may cause some intestinal upset

After the gifts are opened, put any ribbons, bows or other decorations from the wrappers away so that your pet can't accidentally swallow them

If you have thrown food wrappers, table scraps, bones, or leftovers into the garbage, do not leave the bag anywhere that your pet can get into it

Sonja photo new Talking Spirit with Sonja Grace

There are many times in our lives that we loose a pet or have to put our beloved down.  It is with great comfort that I share this next story.
A client called me and told me her dog had passed a week ago and was old and in a lot of pain, tumors everywhere and blind in both eyes.  She decided to put her dog down and had done so with a tremendous amount of guilt and agony.  While talking to her I could see her dad on the other side and he was smiling telling me to tell her not to worry he had her dog with him.  The dog also communicated with me and told his owner not to worry that it was the right decision and he was now free of pain.  He barked twice and ran back and forth with energy!   She was so surprised as she relayed her father never knew her dog and had died when she was only 10 years old.  I explained that he had been her guardian angel her whole life and he knew her dog quite well!  She then started to recount all of the times she had felt her father with her and his intervention on several near miss car accidents.  Having the peace of mind that one's pet is close by and with us even in the spirit realm is of great comfort.  To schedule a reading for you or your pet visit: www.sonjagrace.com  and look for her new book Angels in the 21st Century coming soon!

Unique

Hey all, Sir Ruckus here!  So mom is running around frantic tryng to clean the house and rid the floors of any hint of mans best friend!  Good thing I can help her out with this.  I was lucky enough to find this amazing product called Unique.  They have all natural 'green' products that are completely safe for both skin and fir kids. This company has something for almost every need around the house, but our personal favorite is the Pet Odor and Stain Eliminator.

No one believed me when I said not to worry that the new foster dog had left behind a bit of love, but when I sniffed out the problem we fixed it right up!   What I really like is that this product doesn't leave behind any perfum smell, which means that it isn't 'masking' any thing left behind.

While we have not used it for all its possible situations, they say it
will remove stains and odors from: athletic equipment, pets, food, coffee, red wine, tomato sauce, water stains, grease, vomit, blood, grass stains and more! And with what it has done with the 'foster dogs love' I believe that 100%

Don't forget that if you have a favorite person, place or thing that your pet can't live without you can email me at [email protected]  and maybe I can check it out.  Even as picky as a Bulldog is, you never know, it could be my favorite!

Smell you soon,
Love Ruckus

Safe Howlidays

'Tis the Season to Keep Pets Safe

The food, the decorations, the parties...the festive season comes with lots of fun, and hidden dangers for your best friend too. So to keep pets safe while the good times roll, Woof Report offers you these friendly reminders from Marty Smith, DVM at the peteducation.com website from Doctors Foster and Smith.

Stop the Gravy Train.
Dogs know when something good is cooking. And leftover fatty foods like gravy and grease are just too tempting. But since rich foods can cause painful pancreatitis in dogs, be sure to keep them covered and away, out of your pup's reach.

Lose the Booze
. Sweet eggnog left at table level invites a canine partier to sample. And since serious intoxication harms hundreds of dogs each year, it's best to make sure glasses are cleared away and all alcohol is kept far away from his fuzzy mug.

Chuck the Chocolate
. Or at least hide it. Not only is it irresistible to many dogs (especially dark baking chocolates, fudge and candy), but chocolate, as well as coffee and tea, contain dangerous components called xanthines with can cause damage to nervous and urinary systems and heart muscle stimulation.

Guard the Garbage.
All the goodies from the kitchen call out to your dog from the garbage can. Make sure he can't get the plastic wraps, bones, trimmings and other temptations from the trash, no matter how hard he tries.

Go Faux
. Make sure to keep all holiday greenery out of pet range. Poinsettias, mistletoe and holly can all cause problems such as stomach upset, diarrhea and in some cases even death if ingested. So with leaves and berries that may break off or fall within pet range, why take the chance? We say stay on the safe side, skip the real thing and decorate with festive artificial greenery.

Explore Safe Dcor. Ribbons, bows, yarn and string beckon the furriest members of your household to play. But when ingested or tied around a pup's neck, the situation can turn tragic quickly. Keep wrapped presents and other potentially dangerous dcor out of pup range.

Trimming with Care
. Electrical cords, toxic needle droppings, tasty food trimmings, and easily broken glass balls are just a few of the things to consider when setting up a dog-safe tree. Also, since fertilizers, insecticides, or flame-retardants may have been used to grow the tree, the residue is likely in the water basin at the tree's base. To keep your dog's snout out, provide him with fresh water and cover the water basin with a tree skirt.
Sonja Book
A MUST READ!
Angels in the 21st Century by the clairvoyant Sonja Grace, offers a new perspective on death and dying. Gleaned over many decades of deeply intuitive readings for clients of this world and the next, Sonja's book is a gem that illuminates into the far reaches of our existence. Now more than ever, we need to have a clear understanding of the death process, because it is in dying that we come to know living. In her new book Sonja Grace connects the everyday with the astral, the mundane with the eternal. Angels in the 21st Century is a refreshing and accessible read for the person who has lived enough life to want to know some answers for the difficult questions. Do we reincarnate individually or in families, how do we clear past karmic hangovers, why is my life appearing to be unfulfilled? These and other deep challenges to the human spirit are explained in Sonja's book, and in addition, she portrays a very compelling narrative with real world examples and true stories. The book is available in paperback and is a perfect companion for the baby boomer who is seeking a deep knowledge and fulfillment out of life.
