Frequently-Asked Questions: FAQs

Q: My workplace team has more than 10 people. How can I sign up?

A: For larger workplace teams, please contact Siobhan Kent or Jessica Underhill at 518.456.2200 for placement.

Q: Can I sign up members of my workplace team for different projects?

A: Absolutely. Team leaders should use the links above to sign up their teammates for projects they find interesting and inspiring!

Q: Can my entire workplace team sign up for more than one project or shift (such as a full day)?

A: To make sure we can accommodate as many volunteers as possible, we ask that you and your team members each only sign up for one shift on one project.

Q: Should I bring my own tools or materials?

A: Materials will be available, but United Way encourages you to bring your own gardening supplies and/or construction tools so that we will have enough supplies for everyone. If you bring materials, please mark what you have brought so it can be easily identified at the end of the day!

Q:Do I have to be on a team to participate in United in Action projects?

A: Not at all! Individuals and families are encouraged to participate.

Q:Is there an age limit to participate?

A: United Way requires all participants to be at least 10 years old. Individuals under 18 years old will need a parent/guardian's approval to participate. There is no upper age limit!

Q:I want to participate, but I'm not available on the dates listed, or the projects I'm interested in are already full. What should I do?

A: Unfortunately, we do have a limited number of volunteer spots and projects, and all projects are first-come, first-serve. Please click here to be added to our waiting list. We will notify you of upcoming projects.
