Special Events at the Rupp House

The Rupp House is closed for the season after a fantastic year. Here are some fun facts from the 2011-2012 season:

  • The Rupp House hosted 11,792 visitors through the house
  • Volunteers donated a total of 1,026 hours of their time greeting guests, processing transactions, assisting with events, and everything in between
  • 39 events were held on the Rupp House porch and side yard

We thank all of our Rupp House volunteers, Friends, visitors and staff for all of their hard work and dedication this summer.

The Rupp House will re-open for the following special events:

Annie Leibovitz Photographic Exhibition Comes to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center

A selection of photographs from photographer Annie Leibovitz's Pilgrimage project featuring images of significant historic American sites will be on display from October 25, 2012 through January 20, 2013 at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. The exhibition features more than 70 photographs and includes 2 images from Gettysburg. "From the beginning, when I was watching my children stand mesmerized over Niagara Falls, this project was an exercise in renewal," said Leibovitz. "It taught me to see again." The pictures, although there are no people in them, are in a certain sense portraits of subjects that have shaped Leibovitz's distinctly American view of her cultural inheritance. Visiting the homes of iconic figures, including Eleanor Roosevelt, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott, Pete Seeger and Elvis Presley, as well as places such as Niagara Falls, Gettysburg, and Yosemite Valley, she let her instincts guide her to related subjects - hence the title, Pilgrimage.
