Happy Anniversary!
FAME at 40

The year was 1970 and a small band of physicians cast a God-sized vision - knowing that medicine could be used effectively for evangelism.  Through God's blessing and the generosity of His people...FAME was born.

What FAME discovered was an incredible opportunity to partner with missionaries who were in-country - to provide them with medicines, supplies, and special resources that they couldn't source on their own - and in doing so, FAME was joining in where God was already at work...in places where medical and spiritual needs were great.

We will be bringing you information about how you may join special celebrations surrounding:

North American Christian Convention - Indianapolis IN
July 6 - 9, 2010

National Missionary Convention -  Lexington KY
November 18 - 21, 2010

And much more. . .

Haiti Earthquake Update
As we begin to get credible information about the needs of our partners in Haiti, FAME is preparing both a short and long-term response.  As part of our short-term response, FAME has already sent funding to purchase medicines to Haitian Christian Mission and antibiotics to Lifeline Christian mission.

When many of the American public turn their attention away from this tragedy in a few weeks or months, this is when the people of Haiti will only be starting their journey back to any normal living.

Here are a few things you can do now.

Please consider:

  1. Continue praying for the people of Haiti and relief efforts underway.  Pray that the search and rescue workers in Haiti will be strengthened for the task.
  2. Give.  Prayerfully consider your response, financially.  Funding is one of the most needed things right now.  FAME will be in need of funds for clinic and hospital re-building and shipping of desperately needed medicines and supplies.
  3. Collect simple hygiene items that can be inventoried, sorted, stored, and boxed so that when FAME ships a sea container (or more) of supplies, we will be ready.  Sources indicate that relief supplies are backed up in Haiti at the moment; however, we need to be ready to ship when the opportunity presents itself.
  4. Collect over-the-counter medicines such as Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen.  Please make sure the expiration date is at least six to twelve months away.
  5. Consider going to serve on a medically-focused short term trip with FAME.  A list of our regularly scheduled trips all over the world can be found on FAME's website.  Currently, there are two trips scheduled to Haiti and we may add others as we assess the needs from our partners on the ground.
Give Now

The Long Haul
Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti.  We see pictures of the devastation on the news and we want to do something NOW to help.  Yes, help is needed now and FAME is committed to doing something as soon as possible.  But beyond that I want to assure you we are in this for the long haul.  It is going to take years, if not decades, to rebuild this impoverished nation.  We are committed to being a part of this rebuilding process.

Involvement in Haiti is nothing new to FAME.  Our history with Haiti goes back to the 1970's.  We have been involved in medical evangelism projects with at least seven dynamic ministries that serve in Haiti.  We regularly send short-term mission teams to Haiti.  I have led two of those teams and know what a wonderful blessing this was to both participants and the patients we treated.  We regularly send sea containers of needed supplies to our partners in Haiti.  We were involved in Haiti before the earthquake and we plan to be there as long as long as we are needed.
