Hi!
We currently have entered Timmy, our ten year old rescue in the Bissell Pet Contest, the contest runs until the end of Thursday, Feb. 25.
I rescued Timmy when he was a baby, with his two brothers. I heard them crying and I found them between two brick walls in a back yard, the width between the two was about a foot, and I somehow, head first and feet in the air, reached down and pulled all three out. Timmy's right eye was enlarged, very damaged. He was in alot of pain and the eye started to protrude out of the socket in a matter of days. I took him in and had his eye removed. He learned at a very young age to live without one eye and I don't think he even knows it is missing. He is a very well adjusted boy.
He was adopted out a few months later. He was then returned due to the fact that his adopter had to move and could not take the two kittens he adopted with him. Timmy went back up for adoption, he was then adopted out and remained in the same home for ten years. This past summer his owner contacted Lifeline For Pets, the rescue group I was with when he was adopted out, therefore he was on a Lifeline contract, which like us, has a lifetime return clause in it. They said they were having problems with him and they had taken him to a couple of vets and they could not diagnose his problem, but he had started peeing outside of the box. I was contacted from Lifeline, due to the fact he was my rescue and I called the owner and she told me that he was "compromising their quality of life" therefore she and her husband wanted to return him and if I would not take him, they were going to have him put down. I immediately made arrangements to pick him up. I do give them credit for at least giving us the option to take him back and giving him a second chance.
Since I have had Timmy back, we found out the issue was that he has a kidney stone, my vet diagnosed this immediately from the xrays that were taken. Timmy is a blessing, he is a doll, what a shame that the adopters could have him for ten years and so easily dispose of him when it gets difficult. As I type this, Timmy is right next to me purring up a storm, he must know I am writing about him!
I decided to submit Timmy for the Bissell contest, he is a beautiful cat and I felt in his honor, he should be recognized for his precious little life.
Please, if you could take a few minutes and vote for Timmy, we have a good chance of winning, the contest started on Feb. 19 and Timmy is number 8 right now out of over 5,000 entrants, we need about 250 more votes to be safe to win this round. He is in round 7 of 12 rounds. The winner of each round will be in the running to win and be on a Bissell product box. First place winner gets $10,000 for their charity, second place winner gets $5,000 for their charity and third place winner gets $1,000 for their charity.
We continue to strive to find new ways to fundraise for our rescues, because without public support we cannot do what we do and this contest is a way for you to help us if you would like and it only takes a few minutes to do!
Please help us out and vote for Timmy and please forward this email to your animal loving friends and family!
Sincerely,
Georgyne La Lone
