| Dear Friend of Precious Paws,
At the beginning of 2008, we were blessed with our official non profit status. There is so much we want to accomplish for the rescues and homeless animals. With your continued support all things are possible. Please think of our rescues in your giving during this holiday season. This past year we rescued dozens of puppies and kittens, as well as, many adult and senior cats from the shelter and found them loving homes. The ongoing foreclosure problems are making even more family pets homeless and most are ending up in the city or county shelters. This has severely increased the burden of more animals being brought into rescue organizations. It is all so heartbreaking, we do what we can, but by no means can we save them all. Sadly, euthanasia is way up at the local shelters. We have plenty of very sad stories from this year but we would like to focus on a few of the success stories of the year. Please meet three of this year's rescues below.

FLUFF
Fluff was the only kitten left behind in the unweaned kitten room at the city shelter. He was scheduled to be put down at the end of the day. This little three week old kitten was crying his head off. I heard him as I was waiting for a few other kitties and a dog that I had arranged to rescue that day. Once the shelter workers told me his fate, well, I couldn't let that happen. Hearing his sad cry was killing me. I came home with one adult and two senior cats, one dog and Fluff that day. Fluff is now three months old and in one of our foster homes.

ZOEY
Zoey is one
from a litter of 13. Her mom, Holly, was
quite pregnant when found in front of an elementary school. Holly was taken in by a private citizen who
contacted us for help. When she had her
litter, sadly, three passed away. We
found homes for all of the puppies and for Holly. Holly and her daughter, Zoey, were placed
together. That joy ended soon when it
didn't work out due the hectic schedule of the family. We wanted to keep them together and knew it
would be a miracle for that to happen. Yet, that miracle did happen. The
perfect family came along and adopted both Holly and Zoey. A better family could not be found!

SULLY
|
Sully was
left behind with his buddy, Winston (who was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia
once in our care) at one of the city shelters due to the foreclosure
crisis. They were there for quite a long
time with no hope of getting out alive.
People just don't realize that for two senior cats (they are around ten
& twelve years of age) to be dumped at the shelter probably condemns them
to die in a cold and lonely place. We
kept seeing their pictures in the emails from the shelter, so we went and got
the boys to give them a second chance at a life. Upon taking Sully to the vet, he was
diagnosed with Diabetes. Sully is such a
wonderful boy, he really deserves a loving forever home with someone who will
give him one little insulin shot each day and a healthy diet. Winston will stay with us until he passes. |
