Betenbough Homes Donates $20,000 to
The Children's Home of Lubbock

April 20, 2012
Greetings!

***Please feel free to forward this email to all with whom you shared our previous "voting" emails***

Let me again give you my heart-felt thanks for your support and encouragement during the Betenbough "20 Ways of Giving" voting campaign.  We were able to make connections with many old and new friends of the Home.  It has been so heartening to see the ways you helped us get the word out and continued to vote.  We heard so many positive responses and inspiring words during the past few weeks.  Thank you to all who voted and spread the word for us.  During the voting period, we received an astonishing 38,000 votes.

We were pleasantly surprised this morning when Betenbough Homes presented a $20,000 check to The Children's Home of Lubbock.

Betenbough Homes Donates $100,000 in Celebration of 20 Years

"After spending time with these organizations over the past 20 days, it became clear that there could be no losers. So our $20,000 quickly became $100,000 when we decided to bless each organization with a $20,000 gift.  Our community is blessed to have such wonderful individuals serving the needs of our great city, and we are blessed as a company to be able to partner with them.  We promise to keep giving, and we encourage you to do the same." --Betenbough Homes

Interestingly, the home builder did the same in the communities of Midland and Odessa, making a total gift of $300,000 to charitable agencies in these cities today.  An amazing gift back to the people (and children) of West Texas. We are pleased for all of these other good organizations and we are honored and grateful to have been a recipient of this generous gift.  It will be used, as previously mentioned, for the refurbishing of the 37 year-old kitchen in our Cottage 9 (the "Lamesa Cottage").

We have other cottages, facilities, and services that can always be helped by generous people.  Our campus is almost 60 years old and, as you can imagine, it needs constant upkeep and maintenance.  The services that we provide to abused, neglected, and abandoned children are so vital and our mission of "Manifesting Christ Through Excellence in Child Care" is so critical to the smallest among us.  Our wonderful staff, our Counseling Center, Emergency Shelter, Foster Care and Adoption programs are among the best you can find.  But these facilities and services, critical as they are, are costly to provide.  If you would like to be a partner with us and make a donation (of any amount) to this important work, please click here or visit our website.

There is no way to effectively express our gratitude to each of you for your participation in this project, and for your support for the work here with these kids.  On their behalf, I thank you.

Here's a note from Misty Powers, Houseparent in Cottage 9:

"WANTED TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU WHO VOTED FOR THE CHILDREN'S HOME OF LUBBOCK.  WE COULDN'T HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT AND DEDICATION.  ... YALL HAVE PROVEN TO MY 10 CHILDREN IN MY COTTAGE THAT A NETWORK OF PEOPLE DO CARE FOR THEM AND WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES.  THEY HAVE SEEN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU.  THEY ARE TRULY AMAZED WITH HOW MANY VOTES CAME THROUGH.  NUMBERS PUT THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE FOR THEM AND BELIEVE ME YOU HAVE SHOWN THEM WHAT A DIFFERENCE YOU CAN MAKE WITH A SIMPLE ACT AS THIS ONE.  GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU, AND THANKS FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS. ...COTTAGE 9 : )"
