Thanksgiving 2011
Thanksgiving Blessings
Greetings!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is very rewarding for those of us who work with Children during the holiday season.  This is a time when many loving and caring friends share their blessings with those who have been hurt and neglected.  We are especially thankful for your generosity throughout the year, and thought you might like to hear some of the notes of thankfulness we periodically receive from those you have helped...who have been a part of The Children's Home family.

"The Children's Home is an awesome place.

The people are very loving. I found the Lord when I was there. Finding the Lord has been a large part of my life ever since.

I connected with people that are still my friends and my family today. God bless them."

It was the best place I could have stayed.

I see what goes on around me and thank God for the Heaven-sent place that kept me safe and provided me with what I needed to live my life.

Dear Alvin:

Well, it's been a long time and I still think you are the biggest part of my life.

You are a great teacher and a wonderful father figure. You have taught me so much about life and being a father.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything.

I was 7 years old when my sister and I moved there. I was the 2000th child to be placed there. If it weren't for the love and support of my houseparents, I'm not sure where my life would have ended up. Thank you for everything and helping me take back my life. May God shower blessings on everyone for all your hard work and ...encouragement that you have given to the kids that depend on you:) Suzette

The six starving children ate blades of grass and anything they could find in dumpsters to keep the starvation pangs at bay.  In the young boy's life there were only three constants - hopelessness, love of drawing, and his love of cars.  Life got better when the young boy was removed from the desolation by Child Protective Services.  Jim and Edna Harris placed the lad in their home and adopted him for their own son.  His world, his name and his life were changed for the better forever.                       Eddie

I lived at the Home for some time.

I was not too happy there, but I am glad to say if it was not for that place I would not be the man I am today.

So thank you all for making me into the man I am now even if I did not show it at the time.

...They taught us a lot of responsibilities that I now use on my kids - such as the "chore list."

My kids always ask, "Who came up with that idea?"

Love you all, CHOL!

I have a good job today and am able to take care of my wife and daughter.

...Alvin taught me on the farm ...he taught me how to work, and that's the most important skill of all.
