Bahama Buck'sŪ, the Original Shaved Ice Company, is celebrating its 20th year of business by attempting to break the Guinness™ record for the "world's biggest sno cone". The ambitious goal is aimed at helping kids in need right in Bahama Buck's own backyard.
The company's attempt to bury the current record with more than 20,000 pounds of snow will benefit its Sno Angel Project. Providing funds for programs supporting local kids in Lubbock, Texas at the Children's Home of Lubbock, the "World's Biggest Sno Cone" event will take place December 7th through the 9th at the brand's 5009 50th Street location.
"Children's Home of Lubbock is the perfect partner for us. The kids are full of adventure and wonder," said Blake Buchanan, president of Bahama Buck's. "They've inspired us to think about doing something extraordinary-world record extraordinary-to give these children a memorable experience and adventure."
Individuals, teams, and businesses are encouraged to come out to buy ice and shave snow. The former Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Snow Cone was set in 2000 by Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. That snow cone weighed in at 4,604 pounds (2.1 tons).
"Pray for cold weather," said Eric Lee, CFO of Bahama Buck's. "This Sno Cone will be big enough to feed 60,000 people if it doesn't melt."
Participants may purchase blocks of ice to shave, add those shavings to the "World's Biggest Sno Cone", and become a part of history. Bahama Buck's is registered with Guinness, and every participant's purchase of a block of ice helps to ensure that the Children's Home of Lubbock continues to provide its "Sno Angels" a safe place to live. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Sno Angel Project.
