The Children's Home of Lubbock
Greetings!
Thank you!
...for helping to make their summer fun and educational.
It's June and summer is in full swing at The Children's Home!  Summer jobs in town have started for older teens, while many of the younger kids have applied to work on the farm here at the Home.  And, starting June 15th, our education enhancement programs will begin!

ELF (Early Learning Fun) is designed for children pre-K through first grade to work on basic school readiness skills.

SOS (Summer of Surprises) is for children in second through fifth grades.  The theme of this year's SOS, "Room to Bloom" focuses on personal growth in all areas.  All will meet together for the first 30 minutes for devotional time and spiritual growth.  Then the groups will rotate through three 45 minute classes dedicated to physical growth, intellectual growth, and creative exploration and expression.

TNT (Terrific Notable Teens) will enjoy classes based on the theme Reel to Real.  Each week, the students will watch a movie on Monday and spend the rest of the week exploring things associated with that movie.  For instance, during the first week, the students will watch either Indiana Jones or Pirates of the Caribbean and launch straight into a week of adventure.  Students will learn some geography and be able to name the continents and the oceans.  They will learn to use a compass and will go out in teams to find buried treasure.  They will play "Capture the Flag".  If they watch Indiana Jones, they will research the item that he looked for and discover the historic significance.

Your gift to help underwrite these exciting summer programs will be most appreciated.  And if you find yourself close by the campus, drop in for a visit.  We think you'll enjoy seeing our beautiful orchard, our great facilities, and most of all, our terrific kids!
