CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION
Frank Babel, Hilton Head Lowcountry Board Member Term: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011 Frank Babel is founder and President of "Squeaky Wheels," a
group who advocates for the rights of cyclists and promotes bicycling for
recreation, transportation, fitness and fun on Hilton Head
Island. He is one of the founders of and has served for
the past three years as Co-Chairman of Pedal 4 Kids, a charity bicycling event
benefiting the Hilton Head Boys & Girls Club.
Frank is a charter member of the Kickin' Asphalt Bicycle club, and began a bicycle club in the Sea Pines Country Club. Frank is an active cyclist who has biked across
New Zealand, Iowa and Georgia during the
past few years. He is often seen cycling in
the low country and on Hilton Head Island pathways and appearing before civic and
municipal organizations promoting safe cycling and encouraging the town of
Hilton Head Island to become a certified Bicycle Friendly Community. Frank is also a member of the Greater Island
Council, an organization dedicated to making Hilton Head/Bluffton a better
place to live.
Tom Lex, Aiken Midstate Board Member Term: July 1 2009 - June 30, 2011 Active road cyclist for the past 5 years, Tom Lex rides 4 to 5 days a
week and logs an average of 200 to 250 miles per week. "I chase mountain centuries and
participated in 20 centuries last year and 5 so far this year (Mt.
Mitchell yesterday was my latest)," says Lex. "I have ridden extensively in New
Mexico ( I worked In Los Alamos, NM before retiring in 2007) and the
surrounding States of Texas and Colorado." Tom Lex is currently the president
of the Aiken Bicycle Club. According to Lex, "I have a strong interest in and
commitment to bicycle safety as I have had my share of near misses with
motor vehicles because of the lack of driver consideration for cyclists."

CANDIDATES FOR RE-ELECTION
Paul LeFrancois, Spartanburg Upstate Board President Term: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011 Founding board member of the PCC, serves on the Freewheelers of
Spartanburg board of directors, chairs the Overmountain Victory Trail
Committee in Cherokee County, longtime bicycle commuter and
recreational cyclist.
Tina Reese, Rock Hill Midstate Board Member Term: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011 An avid cyclist in her home of Rock Hill, Tina serves as treasurer of the Rock Hill Bicycle Club. She is very active in promoting cycling in the Rock Hill area, and is associated with several committees within the city to promote greenways, complete streets, and other bicycling related endeavors.
Scott Royce, Conway Lowcountry Board Member Term: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011 A 'recovering' attorney, Scott Royce is currently a fundraiser for Coastal Carolina University that has a lifelong affair with his bicycle. Scott has raced his bicycle for many years, served as club president to his local bike club, and currently sits on the City of Conway's
Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee. "I am an advocate of the bike and
always will be!" says Royce.
