Extending our VoltageVision Line...
A couple of weeks ago I introduced our new Medium Voltage Indicator. We had a lot of feed back on it right away, and we've added a lot of new people to HumpDay, so I thought I would do this again. It is a great new product, and we are excited to share it with you! (FYI...this would be a GREAT product to do a Video Application Story on. I'm just sayin'!)
We
are extending our line of power warning alerts by adding a new vo ltage
indicator made specifically for medium voltage equipment. The
VoltageVision R-1VH / R-1VL Medium Voltage Indicator increases safety
for workers who perform mechanical or electrical maintenance on medium voltage equipment
by helping to ensure isolation of electrical energy. This power
warning alert mounts to the voltage bus and flashes to indicate the
presence of voltage. It has a cluster of bright, flashing LEDs that
can be viewed through an access window on a medium voltage starter,
transformer switchgear, or other medium voltage power distribution
equipment. (Please see data sheet for flash rate info).
The
Medium Voltage Power Warning Alerts are built for long life and
reliability with solid-on LEDs and flame-rated material. Capacitive
coupling between the medium voltage indicators and earth ground
provides a means of completing the flashing circuit without a hardwired
ground connection, which provides enough energy to make the LEDs  flash. Capacitive coupling also provides high surge immunity and electrical
installation integrity. The amount of energy transferred through
capacitive coupling to a medium voltage indicator varies, and therefore
determines its flash rate and intensity. The key factors include the
line of voltage, the distance between the adjoining phases, the size,
and the distance of the ground plane - like an enclosure, for example. Because of this the flash rates are optimized for applications on
voltages from 2KV to 15KV (part number R-1VL) and 15KV to 43KV (part
number R-1VH).
