Dear HumpDay Reader,

In keeping with our military theme of the last week or so, I give you a little Humor in Uniform courtesy of Reader's Digest.  Enjoy!
  • When my father was in boot camp, the troops were instructed to put their belongings in their footlockers, write their last names and first initials on the containers, and report back for inspection.  A few minutes later, the commanding officer, after having seen my father's locker emblazoned with his last name "Locke" and his first initial "R,"furiously bellowed, "Okay, who's the wise guy?"  - Tod Locke, from Humor in Uniform by Editors of Reader's Digest
  • With his squad at attention, my father's drill sergeant began inspecting their rifles.  Grabbing on soldier's M-1, he peered down the barrel only to be stared back at by a spider.  "Two demerits," yelled the sergeant.  "Why two?" asked the private.  "One for keeping an unclean weapon," said the sergeant.  "And one for keeping an unauthorized pet." - Kathleen Sheehy, from Humor in Uniform by Editors of Reader's Digest
  • One of my fellow recruits at Marine boot camp looked extremely young.  During inspection our drill instructor asked him, "Does your mother know you're in the Marine Corps?" "Yes, sir," replied the recruit.  "Does she know you're staying overnight?" - Jamie Walker, from Humor in Uniform by the Editors of Reader's Digest
  • One day in artillery instruction, a colonel came to inspect our class.  First up was Private O'Malley.  The colonel got in his face and asked him what reading he had on his 105 mm howitzer.  "Two-nin-oh-seven, sir," was the reply.  "Soldier," said the colonel, "don't you know you never say "oh" in the artillery?  You say "zero."  What's your name, soldier?"  "Zero Malley, sir," answered the private.  - John Madson, from Humor in Uniform by Editors of Reader's Digest

I was going to share info on a new product, but...

...I got an email from a customer and my plans changed.  This customer has a daughter who has a coach who has a former student who is from a female Marine Corps Commander stationed in Afghanistan (Whew!  I know, the friend-of-a-friend thing!).

American FlagShe gives great detail about their daily conditions and the goings-on in her neck of the desert.  Since we are approaching Memorial Day weekend and we are sending care packages this week, I felt her words timely and appropriate.  I hope you will take a few moments and read her letter.
Click here to view the letter.
Stay tuned next week because I will tell you all about this awesome new product we have coming out this summer!!
It's Different Still...
So many of you responded so positively to this idea of sending care packages to our troops in lieu of getting your giveway!  It's so awesome!!  We have ten gift boxes with similar contents as shown here to send out to our troops.  On behalf of all of us here at Grace, thank you!

I have two more boxes that need addresses.  So, if you know of someone who is serving overseas, please email me their address no later than Friday, May 28.  If there are any care packages without addresses, I will forward them to the USO.  I have included a thank you card in each package along with a print out of your comments from last week.

If you did not get a chance to make a comment, please click here!  Thanks!!

Many of you mentioned you'd like to see this be a constant presence in our HumpDay email.  So, I've designed a poll to see where you all stand.  Click here to tell us if you want us to do this once a month!
