RI NOW Annual Meeting
Please join us on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the North Providence Library at 6pm for RI NOW's Annual Meeting. The evening features State Representatives Teresa Tanzi and Maria Cimini in "Politics and Gender in Rhode Island: A Conversation with Two Freshmen Legislators."
Representative Teresa Tanzi (District 35, South County) is a tireless advocate for women's rights, environmental justice and fair tax policy. She serves as a member of the House Corporations Committee, the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and the Joint Port Facilities Study Commission. She is active in her South County community with the Jonnycake Center Hunger Task Force, the Wakefield Downtown Merchants Association, and Peace Dale Neighborhood Revitalization, Inc.
Representative Maria Cimini (District 7, Providence)
is passionate about improving support systems for low income women so that they can achieve economic security and self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. She is a member of the House Health, Education and Welfare Committee, the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and the Commission to Study Public Higher Education Affordability. She is employed at the University of Rhode Island Feinstein Center for a Hunger Free America.
