Today Marks 38th Anniversary of Roe v Wade 

Today marks the 38th anniversary of the landmark supreme court decision that recognized the right of women to make personal, private medical decisions regarding reproductive health care, allowing them to take control of their own bodies and their own lives. As described in NOW's recent press release marking this occasion, this anniversary comes at a critical time in this country as abortion rights are under attack on the national stage. Here is Rhode Island, we continue to have a General Assembly that is overwhelmingly anti-choice. Marriage Equality Rally at State House Feb 9

Could this be the year? With a pro-equal marriage Governor and lots of support at the General Assembly, this could be the year that we finally pass a bill guaranteeing equal marriage for all! Join RI NOW, MERI, and hundreds of other individuals and groups at a rally in support of marriage equality at 4pm on Wednesday, February 9 at the State House. Your best bet for parking will be the Providence Place mall. Bring handmade signs, but nothing on sticks please! And, wear red to indicate that LOVE doesn't discriminate. Look for RI NOW signs, and come say hello!
