Veolia Water North America operates and maintains Milwaukee's Jones Island and South Shore water reclamation facilities and the District's conveyance and Deep Tunnel systems under contract to Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.  The Underwood Creek Force main, a wet weather force main that runs along Underwood Creek in suburban Milwaukee had experienced previous failures that had resulted in costly damage to the environment and the neighboring communities.
